Thread: NETSKY!!!

  1. #1

    Default NETSKY!!!

Ok, so this guy is so incredible he deserves his own thread. Liquid Funk Drum and Bass for Coachella 2011! This is going to happen, mark my words! I think the sound characteristic of liquid d 'n' b would be very well received in the Sahara. I also personally would like to see Netsky play before a........ hold back your criticism for a second........high profile mainstream DJ, vocal house or trance, a la Bassnectar into Kaskade this year. I am all about sharing amazing music with the masses, not selfishly concealing it. Anyways, Netsky needs the opportunity to play to as full a tent as possible, to blindside the otherwise mainstream electronic-listening, unsuspecting masses with music more beautiful than they have ever heard before. Who's with me?!

Check out this minimix! Probably the best series of songs I have ever heard! Words cannot do justice to how incredible and talented Netsky is! Well there's my promo for you, less reading and more listening, enjoy!

I had never heard of Netsky until I saw this thread. Only took a minute after clicking those links until I was dancing uncontrollably.

I support this thread 100%. Netsky needs to play in the Sahara at sunset.

Thanks for introducing me to this artist btw!

Hey, my absolute pleasure for the Netsky intro, stoked you're loving him, I myself just discovered him over the weekend and couldn't stop listening! I completely concur and can relate about the dancing uncontrollably part. Netsky at Sunset in the Sahara is a brilliant idea, and thank YOU for that! Spread the word!

Yep, been following Netsky since his second or third 12" over a year ago. Definitely would like to see him over here.

He has quite a few good tracks that came out before he got signed to Hospital. Some of my favorites actually. He's also just churning out the remixes left and right.

Does he have a US Work Visa yet? I really like him, he's been my gateway into the world of d&b, and the liquid/funk sound he does is killer.

He hasn't played on this side of the world anywhere yet as far as I know so I doubt it. I'll ask him on facebook and see if he replies.

Ahh cool! Thanks ... for whatever reason there doesn't seem to be too much liquid dnb interest in so-cal (or at least promoters don't seem to think so which is why you never get us at EDC or other events), so we tend to play in UK and San Francisco.

Wait till you see the live thing we're working on! Working with an artist on design that could rival the Etiene De Crecy infamous "cubes"

I know, it's a huge shame. Seeing Logistics though at EDC was pretty awesome. Well of course Calibre and Marcus too but I didn't go Friday because I had to work. I'd seen them both before a few times so it didn't kill me. Yea, I'd like to make it up to SF sometime to come see you guys spin.

Sub Focus has played SoCal a bunch of times over the years. The first time I remember him on a lineup was Nocturnal 2007. I'm not a terribly big fan of his. He puts out some cheese ball d&b sprinkled with a few great tracks.

He's getting better. For awhile he was just a bad Pendulum clone, in my opinion at least. I really like Follow The Light a lot as well as Airplane, The Last Jungle and a few others. Some of his tracks like Timewarp though are just cheese ball jump up.

And yea, he played alot of gigs here for awhile. I'm pretty sure he was at a few Insomniac shows between 2007 and 2010.

but at the same time you think Dirtyphonics is cheese. And from what I have read you dont think much of Noisia either.

It seems you just dont seem to like the harder side of DnB (or stop liking it once its popular). Am I wrong? If so can you post track/artist that fits into that description that you do like?

No, I really like Noisia a lot when they stick to doing Neurofunk. I like lots of Noisia's stuff as well as Spor, Black Sun Empire, Phace and Misanthrop, Break, Silent Witness, Audio etc. I wasn't too fond of Noisia's Essential mix because I thought they played too much electro and some of the mixing was just plain half assed.

As far as Neuro goes this is one of my favorites from over the past few months

And I'm planning on dropping this one in the middle of a a couple of Liquid tracks in a set I'm playing Saturday.

    and one more...

really into this one right now too

Shit man, I saw Mampi Swift with Donald a little while ago and Mampi is one of the best at dropping the heavy tunes.
