I get off of work at 5:30, and am only a couple miles away, so I can be there shortly after that. I have a drum lesson at 7:00, so I'll only be able to stick around for an hour or so.

I get out of work at 5pm. If I go straight to Padre's from work I'll be there before 5:30pm, but I may have to go home first.

Has anyone tried some all you can eat sushi joint down in Mesa? I believe they said it was at Arizona Avenue and Elliott maybe? Someone was talking about it last night and they said it was good and they make all the sushi right there in front of you. I think he said it was only $10/person but apparently if you leave any sushi on your plate you then have to pay for every roll you ate or something. Nick and I love sushi but usually drop $60 or more so it sounds like a great deal if it is actually good.

I am thinking about ordering Thai Hut for lunch. I am thinking I need to try some curry since I have never had it. Any recommendations? I can choose between red, green, yellow or panang curry which is Thick paste of panang curry with coconut milk, green beans and bell pepper topped with basil. Less spicy would be my choice but I am not sure which of these would be the less spicy variety.

No new restaurants? My mom told me there's a pizza joint in Glendale that's supposed to be, "the west side version of Bianco." I think it's called Pizzario or something along those lines, ring a bell for anyone? If they drag me to Glendale Glitters I think we're going to try it.

I don't think Hula's Modern Tiki has been posted in here yet. I went last night after work, for their $3 "tiki time" (aka happy hour) spicy tofu tacos, and it's a great place. The tacos are awesome (they also have a variety of fish tacos and entrees), the wakame salad is super good - if you're in to seaweed - and I've also had their black bean burger, which was excellent and big enough to share. It has a great indoor/outdoor vibe, and the patio is very chic and urban. They also have a nice cocktail list.

I nominate it for the next meet-up dinner.

I would recommend you guys a little place that's called velvet elvis in Patagonia Az.
The food is pretty good and haven't heard any bad reviews from this place, ask for this pizza:

    The Inca Quinoa Pizza
Crust prepared w/ quinoa flour and baked in a deep iron skillet with
layers of various vegetables and cheeses
(Requires 24-hour notice because it takes our Specialty Chefs
two hours to prepare one of these succulent pizzas)

    http://www.velvetelvispizza.com/

Oh and it's only open thursday thru sunday...

My boss took me out to Christo's for dinner last night. A little pricey, but the food was quality and the service was excellent. (Also, there was a table of old men behind us speaking Italian - I figure if the real Italians go there, that must be a good sign).

We had the bruschetta, which was some of the best I've had, and I ordered the fantasea pasta (calamari, baby octopus, and scallops in a red sauce), because I am a bad vegetarian. Also, tiramasu for dessert.

It's a nice place. I would definitely recommend it for any fancy dinner needs.

I have longed to try La Piazza Al Forno, yet I don't find myself in Glendale very often - at least not on a Sunday. Imagine my anticipation, then, when my girlfriend and I were headed to a Coyotes game on a Saturday a few weeks ago - it was $1 beer night and the first 10,000 fans got a free "wearable blanket." We finally got to Glendale Ave. in the heart of Glendale, a few blocks away from the restaurant itself, only to find that there was some sort of fair or block party happening that day. There was absolutely no parking and traffic was beyond ridiculous.

I swear I will never get to eat at La Piazza Al Forno. Glendale has this way of kicking you when you are down. If it's not scheduling two - not one, but two - Mannheim Steamroller concerts at Jobing.com Arena on the same day the defending world champion New York Giants are in town playing the Cardinals (read: parking/traffic nightmare), then it's taking a hot, block-party/craft fair dump on any plans you have on spending a nice Saturday trying to eat at one of its more celebrated pizza joints.

I know, I know...Glendale just irks me sometimes.

Guiseppe's on 28th makes some delicious Italian food. That new America's Taco Shop in Tempe on University & Rural is fantastic, too - I'm glad they opened one up in that area so I could finally enjoy their food.

I tried Beaver Choice in Tempe this weekend based on the fact that they offered poutine. That wasn't really the case, however, as they just dumped gravy and I think mozzarella cheese on whatever lame fries they had. Twice-fried dutch fritz? I think not.

I will say that Jamburritos cajun food truck has been consistently good whenever I have gone down to Food Truck Friday at the Phoenix Public Market on Central and McKinley. I've had some great jambalaya, gumbo, catfish and hush puppies from their lovely truck. Their specials are usually pretty awesome and their gigantic burritos are only $5.

Oh, how I wish more food trucks populated the streets of Phoenix...

I have seen some people eating some very tasty looking pita-esque sandwiches from that Short Leash truck. I should definitely try it soon - perhaps this Friday, as well. My girlfriend also got a pretty tasty pulled beef sandwich from the Riteway Catering truck.

I don't think he did, but they do it at the Phoenix Public Market on Central/McKinley. I'm seriously thinking about hopping on the light rail and heading over there myself on Friday. That sounds sooo good.
