    Default Arizona Bacon Fest 2015

I went to this event last year and it was a failure. It was in the day time. 100 degrees out. Little shade. Only 10-15 venders. One area for alcohol. Ran out of food. Some eateries were charging for food. The venue was tiny and the festival was oversold.

They seemed to have addressed those issues. Kino Sports Complex is a much bigger and better venue. They moved it to the evening. 30 eateries. 25 breweries. All food and drinks included. It's more expensive this year, but seems worth it this time around.

Guedita and myself went to one of these Bacon festivals earlier this year and it kinda sucked because I felt like I was constant boucing back and forth from Bacon to Beer as well having troubles holding onto my food and my beer while waiting in line.

I saw one of you check in on facebook or post about it or something. I remember looking it up too and remebering it was way better than the one we had here last year. Lastyear's was very poorly thrown together, but they have already made enough alterations to intrigue me again. There was one, maybe two breweries out there last year and it wasn't worth waiting in line for. I was adamantly against going again unless I saw some drastic changes and it looks like they noticed their problems and have fixed them.

We made the mistake of trying to drink as much beer as possible, thinking that the beer was more likely to run out than the bacon. And we didn't realize it was more of a foodie-oriented event, and then some of the bacon vendors ran out before we got to try them. Bacon wrapped mochi ice cream was the highlight.

    Now I'm hungry for bacon.

I would avoid New Belgium and Oskar Blues to get my moneys worth.

I wonder why they call it the Arizona Bacon festival when it is actually in Tucson.

The one we had here was very generic. There was bacon cotton candy and bacon popcorn that was average. There were these burgers that we tried that were awesome, but they only gave you a very tiny portion and if you wanted anything that could fill you up, you had to pay for it. The festival was only an hour in and two vendors had already ran out of food. They ran out of beer wristbands before we walked through the door and then, when they got more, the line was ridiculous.

There were a few things with potential and I hope they bring them back this year. I am hoping it resembles the bacon festivals I saw in other cities when I was researching what types of foods other cities had.

I’m thinking of chocolate stout being poured over vanilla ice cream, a small amount of bacon drippings poured on top of the ice cream, light drippings to melt the ice cream a bit, blow out the fire and drink.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
