lulz reading into the finger thing. What a coincidence that the ring was on her ring finger closely situated next little finger, and that the gov bit off the only fingers that could possibly fit in his mouth.

The episode was good considering the balance of the hour constraint vs a reasonable depth for merle. Not even Rick's hokey speech managed to ruin it.

I didn't say I was reading anything into it, was just pointing it out. And Merle's fingers weren't so fat that only the pinky (pinkie?) and ring finger could've fit into the Governor's mouth.

Ivy: yeah, Merle was unbelievably stupid in that sequence.

I enjoyed last night's episode quite a bit. Merle's scenes were surprisingly excellent and those eyes were so empty! Darryl played that scene really well too. I was wondering if Rick was just all of a sudden cured of his issues, but I guess not. at least he seems to be handling it better. Glenn and Maggie are adorable and I think it's a little bit too much for this new ZA world and it makes me think that one of them (probably Maggie) are on their way out. I still hope they can both survive the coming war with woodbury at least into the premiere next season. a post ZA world needs something like that for us to keep a piece of our humanity.

I thought the two finger scenes were odd, but yeah, I guess we're reading too much into it. I was sort of expecting Maggie's Dad to offer up his wife's ring when Glen asked for her hand. For some reason, I thought maybe he'd have held onto it for the girls.

I'm anxious for the next one, to see what becomes of Andrea.

I was also impressed with the feeling in Darryl's eyes. Great job. I also agree about Maggie, although, couldn't it be Glen that dies?

I feel like Glenn has become a very crucial member of the group and that they wouldn't kill him off as easily as Maggie who only really became a key member late in season 2 and has been pushed off to the sidelines ever since her encounter with the governor. I suppose I could see a situation where Glenn sacrifices himself for her, though.

All bets are off though. They could kill off anyone at any time. Except the Governor; there has to be a big finale for that (same for Rick).

I wasn't expecting Darryl to react the way he did, nor was I expecting him to sell it so well. Nicely done.

I'm guessing we may not know which main characters actually died until the next season, which will piss me off. I hate cliffhanger shit like that.

on talking dead the actor that plays Merle said he let Michonne go because he was tired of listening to her haha

btw, he also said that the way he played that scene was that he would get in, kill some people and then get out so if it was a deathwish, it wasn't portrayed that way by the actor. it did seem to be written that way though.

Anyhoo, this was a great episode! I couldn't wait for it to be over with. Not because I wasn't liking it, but I was so anxious to see what happens.

Once Rick came to his senses, I was all fidgety and hoping Merle/Daryl hadn't gotten to Michonne yet.

I also wasn't looking clearly, apparently, because I thought Merle pulled a tooth out of the governors mouth.

And it looked like Merle was going to kiss Michonne when he stopped the car. But that's just silly.

I love this show. I'm planning on watching as much of the marathon as I can. I missed the first half of the third season.

I watched that scene a couple times because it looked like he stabbed him with his knife arm thing in the jaw but then they showed the governor looking not as banged up as I would expect so I guess not?

Perhaps this was part of it but I'm convinced Merle knew he was going to do this before that, even if he hadn't fully admitted it to himself yet. Back when he was quarreling with Daryl about toeing the line with Rick. He knew Daryl wasn't going to abandon the group, and even though he gave him shit for it he ultimately envied him. He knew enough to know he could never get along with everyone. He couldn't live on without Daryl, but he couldn't live on with him. And hew knew Daryl wouldn't abandon him either. So in the end Merle did the only thing he felt he could do, which was sacrifice himself for Daryl's sake and go out like a man and have Daryl remember him that way. Kidnapping Michonne was just a way to heighten the tension but it always had to end this way.
