hear 'If You Leave' alot while mall shopping. Makes one feel triumphant and worthwhile. When "dont look back, ah ah ahhh, dont look backkkkk" comes on I always turn my head over my shoulder and stare backwards in lyrical defiance.

Indeed I did. He was very cagey, though they're looking at a March/April tour of the US, so...

Good work! I'm betting they are planning their North American tour around Coachella and will play on friday in the same slot as Kraftwerk hopefully with a nice stage production.

HELL YEAH! That is great news. Caginess means they're confirmed or trying to get signed on. Otherwise, they would have just said no.

This summary was brought to you today by your friends at Bridezillas.

Finally gave the new album a listen and it's really good. I like but don't love a lot of what I've heard of their classic material (sometimes the vocals just grate, and I just need more time with some of it), but this is getting me excited about a potential Coachella set. It really does sound like classic OMD in some spots, and others there's more of a modern r&b influence that actually kind of works. "Pulse" is the motherfucking jam.

Reviews from their UK tour, which began last week, are phenomenal. They have a great light show - very Kraftwerk like - and are playing a good mix of old and new. OMD alone would likely get me to brave the 70,000 strong and come to watch.
I just listened to Dazzle Ships again a few months ago and I haven't been able to take it from the playlist. These guys were so "out there" when they pioneered the synth sound. In a recent interview, Vince Clarke said that OMD are the reason he began playing synthesizers.

Dazzle Ships is a great great record and severely underrated.

Patrick, have you tried Architecture & Morality? Almost every song on it is brilliant. To me it's the easiest album to get into.

Dazzle Ships & Junk Culture are excellent also.

Lead singer Andy McCluskey said on the OMD messageboard (www.omd.uk.com/forum) that they are NOT playing Coachella. Bummer.

I hope we get some Erasure or Pet Shop Boys to make up for the lack of OMD

I think that either of PSB or Erasure would be a poor substitute for OMD anyways, but the good news is an announcement for a spring OMD US tour is to be made on Monday. I can still catch them in a small venue, which will be very nice.

I like the idea of Numan, but cant imagine he'd be that entertaining to watch for more than 10 min or so.

I saw his Pleasure Principle show here back in October and it was great.

I have been calling for OMD for years, and I thought this was going to be the year! However, NO KINGS OF LEON with their army of frat clowns in tow, please. Not that there won't be an army of frat clowns on their trip away from their mommy and daddy.
