shit, that was the best part about last year.

I hope they have RV camping next year; I just reserved mine last weekend. I wonder why they wouldn’t have it next year.
She was not talking to me.
No shit. This costs me several grand every year. I need to know ASAP.
FWIW I think PF was talking about dropping off RVs. I bet it was a PITA last year.

You can cancel up to two weeks before the show and get a full refund with Cruise America. All you need to do is put $300 down as a deposit, which is also fully-refundable.

RV camping is officially not happening this year.
http://coachella.com/layaway_camping.html* We are very sorry to announce that for 2011 we have discontinued the on site RV camping program. In addition, RV?s will not be allowed within the festival grounds, this includes day parking. We are making every effort possible to limit the amount of traffic entering and exiting the festival each day and also create additional car parking. Unfortunately RV?s take up large amounts of space and significantly reduce the number of cars the festival can accommodate. There are several locations in the surrounding area which allow RV?s. Thank you for understanding.

I've taken my RV to the show a few times in the past and have had a great time. However just noticed this message on the main page.
* Lake Eldorado campers can visit all other general camp sites, however the Lake Eldorado campsite is restricted for it's patrons exclusively.

That's fucked up!! I guess it's back to the Fantasy Springs & room service

I'm happy they got rid of the RV's, they take up way too much room and now you get a parking sport per tent camping spot.

Lake Cahuilla, best/closest RV spot...

Aw man, I was thinking about trying RV camping if I go this year. It sounded fun.
I'm taking my money off-site. I'm not spending an extra penny at Coachella if I don't have to.

i'm over it but my kids are very disappointed. they love the full immersion camping experience. they also love their own bathrooms & showers. they could do the tents but i'd rather stay at a hotel.

I was a little disappointed when I saw this. Doing a hotel last year cut down on our experience some (met all sorts of fun people we could have hung out with, if we weren't concerned about how long it took to get in and out of parking), and I'm not really crazy about port a potties + public showers (don't mind the showers themselves so much, more concerned about lines + water temp). But fuck it... gonna do tent camping instead.

Contradiction city. I sure to hell they aren’t planning on MORE cars, but I see this meaning one of the scenarios:
- They need the space for additional parking for day-time cars, which = more clusterfuck
- They need the space for more car-camping (OK, considering it sold-out last year)
- They need the space because they are increasing the size of the inside festival grounds

Also, aren't the pre-set tent cabin options more modest than last year?
I feel like last year's "safari tents" included air conditioning, private shuttle to the festival entrance, private parking lot, and stuff like that. But it was like $5000.
This year, it's the Lake Eldorado campsite, and tents are $1000-$1600, but don't include air conditioning or the private shuttle or private parking lot.
The safari tents also included access passes to backstage and artists' areas

1. Camping in an RV IS NOT CAMPING! It's driving your house to a parking spot.
2. If you really want to "camp" in a vehicle then get a VW Westfalia (they allow those). Real camping is popping up a tent and eating cold canned-goods (although you wouldn't look very "cool.")
3. READ THE FAQ! THERE IS NO RV CAMPING THIS YEAR!
4. Kiss my ass!
5. Thanks for the replies! :P
OK, I'm done being bummed, I got one of the hotel/shuttle/ticket packages today and am now excited. It's cheaper overall than what we spent on a 40' RV last year, and the shuttles really sold it for my group.
I don't think anyone was trying to claim rv camping was "real camping"
Hell, the whole reason I was planning on doing it was because it WASNT "real camping".
I don't need to prove to the world that I can rough it. Quite frankly, I'm quite happy if people know that I find camping uncomfortable.
oddly enough, that makes me no better or less a person who enjoys "real camping"
