i know that at warped tour concerts you have great chances to meet the artists, but i was wondering if it is the same at coachella?

A handful of artists do signings each day. For example, here's the signing schedule from last year:
    Saturday:
    The Like - 2pm
She Wants To Ripoff Interpol - 2:30
Eagles of Death Metal - 3:00
    Atmosphere - 3:30
    Franz Ferdinand - 5:00
    Wolfmother - 5:30
    Common - 6:30
    Living Things - 7pm

While a nice bonus, be warned though - those signing lines get very long, they also move very slow, and most of the time the artists are late, meaning - you will be missing performances, just a FYI.

I would limit it to one performer a day (if you have to have sigs) because who wants to stand in line all day in the sun?

And the Peppers would NOT do a signing, most of the headliners do not do signings, it would be a bit chaotic to say the least. Most signers, as witnessed in Bourns post, have been small to mid level bands, but there are some good ones that draw large numbers of fans.

Here is a pic i snapped of the signing schedule for both days in 2004.

OMG, I totally could have had the bros from that band with Jason Schwartzman that doesn't have Jason Schwartzman anymore to sign my T-shirt.

I'm pretty sure I have pictures of the other years I could dig up, but I think you get the idea. I don't remember it (signing tent) being there in 1999.

But this is proof of many UK festivals influence on Coachella, albeit a Virgin one, this is a great addition for Coachella every year. Nice work as always GV.

I walked by Phantom Planet's signing line - it was freaking long - all chicks. But it was nothing compared to the library gang waiting for Belle and Sebastian.

Yeah, I stood in line and got the Crystal Method guys to sign my ticket.

Wasn't worth it, really, I should have been out watching a band, but a lot of fans were there waiting to meet the other bands, so get there early.

It wouldn't be so funny if it wasn't soooo true. (I am a big B n S fan by the way) but just look at the crowd in the Coachella movie during their performance and you'll see what I mean.

Lots and lots of smart backpacks and eyeglasses.

There's one guy in the movie with glasses, combed hair and a sweater tied around his neck. I crack up everytime I see him.

I wouldn't be suprised if Ghostface was in the tent, but RHCP definetely won't be.

Ghostface is a good candidate for the signing tent indeed.

    along with:
Silversun Pickups, Black Keys, Hot Chip (the signed at Lolla and Glasto), Lupe Fiasco (he signed at Lolla and Intonation), The Kooks, New Pornos (they always sign), Jose Gonzalez (he also signed at Intonation), Kaiser Chiefs, Teddy Bears, Tokyo Police Club.

I didn't wait in line, but I was at the Virgin tent during Franz Ferdinand. The line was long, and I didn't care for it. While sitting in the shade during common or kanye west, I ran into Lady Sovereign. She was really nice, I got an auto and a picture (damn sun, it didn't turn out). I also ran into kristina sky, but didn't get an auto or pix. If you look around while in the venue, you will see a lot of the smaller acts just walking around and enjoying the shows. But be warned, its like waking a sleeping bear, you will never know how they will react. That goes for most artist/celeb/athletes/etc.... If they are not doing an official signing, its hit or miss.

I was in Cleveland in November at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. They had a Joy Division display, and being that SheWants Revenge had played in Cleve. the night before, I thought I'd see them dropping-off a royalty check, or at least a basket of muffins, at the Joy Division display!

I saw 2 shows on the Placebo(the reason I went)/She Wants Revenge tour....they were trading off closing each show, but since so many people were leaving after Placebo when they opened, She wants revenge opted to open every show so that they would have an audience!

The merch sales were very lopsided...Placebo was outselling SWR by a 7 to 1 ratio!
