I think Google Buzz will be the only "addition" we see for a while. They won't try to resurrect a similar idea in a separate format for the sake of saving what they consider to be the ultimate conversation tool... which it wasn't at all.

Problem is/was everyone was already using gmail for their conversations/tools/whatever...Google should have somehow integrated Wave with Gmail to begin with, like some sort of beta/labs feature where you could share attachments and have open "threads" in real time or whatever....it was stupid to think people were gonna stop using Gmail and switch over to this.
