We left at 5am and got there around 130pm. And it took about 8 to get back, so maybe its faster to do 80, 580, 5 etc. And skip the 101.

HEY DACS85 I've done the drive twice and it really matters when you leave. If you go on "the 5" and you get to the Los Angeles area anywhere between 4-6 pm you're going to add two hours to your trip.

Menik, how long did it take us?

I feel like it took about 7 hours from SF area to LA area and then about 1.5 hours to get into Indio Area.

You can avoid the two added hours in LA by going 5->138->15. It takes a bit longer than 5 does when it's empty, because the speed limit is slower and there's a chance you'll get stuck behind something *really* *slow*, but it beats the stress of LA traffic, and it's kinda a pretty view.

Im driving from Sacramento and mapquest says its going to take about 8 hours to get there. Im leaving after work thursday about 5pm

In previous years, I've pulled out of work around 3.30, been on the road by 4, and *in line at camping* by 12.30.

Of course, this means I wasn't actually *asleep* until like 3.
