    Default Neil Young 2011

I want Neil Young to headline Coachella Friday or Saturday night. His catalog could easily entertain a crowd for 2 + hours, he still puts on a fantastic show, and he has undoubtedly influenced many other Coachella acts we've seen in years past and will see in years to come. Hell, he'd probably show up with some special guests....Eddie Vedder and him are BFF.

I support this... better than a lot of other names people are throwing around(Interpol,Kanye etc.) Are you going to any of his shows at the Fox?

Of those three, I thought Jay-Z was pretty freaking awesome. I did leave early to catch some Fever Ray and Deadmau5, BUT...Neil Young would be awesome. Good call.

Definitely support. I hope he plays Coachella this year before he gets too old. In fact he's one of the few old-time headliner possibilities besides Bowie that I'm down with. Fantastic catalogue, and would help draw a better crowd for this year.

I wish Neil Young would play but I'm sure AEG/Goldenvoice or somebody associated with Coachella has or will do something he doesn't agree with so he won't play.

Saw him on this past tour, and he was phenomenal. Usually when it's just a man and a one instrument on stage (he switched from acoustic, electric, and piano) I end up missing bass and drums, but watching just Neil on stage was a special experience.

Just wish he would have played some On The Beach material.

Weirdly enough, Neil was due to SUB in 2009. Yes, SUB under the Killers. I thought he could headline but maybe GV thinks differently. I would LOVE for him to pull a full headliner set. Shit, give him a Cure like time slot.

EDIT: Sorry, 2009 not 2008. WTF

Neil Young billed under The Killers? That's beyond insulting. If that's true, no wonder he dropped out.

Imagine the entire Saturday line up from 2010 dropping because they were booked under Faith No More.

I think in the end it had to do with his Canadian tour conflicting with Coachella.

    Quiet, you.

Well I consider it to be good news if GV/AEG has been in talks with Neil before, but they are absolutely crazy as a horse to bill him as anything but a headliner.

the notion that neil young would be billed as anything less than a fest-closing headliner is absolute bullshit.

I was hoping they would have approached him for 2010. Alas.

Maybe not so batshit crazy. When was the last time Neil played LA and sold out a major venue? Not being snarky just a serious question.

true, that is a good point. however don't you think that his massive catalog of songs and influence might bump him up to a headline spot over a band like, say, the killers?

Also, Gorrilaz are probably in the same boat; I doubt they could sell out a 15k+ venue in LA, but they closed the festival.

I would lose some respect for the festival if they put a band like the killers over someone like neil young just because they might sell more tickets. shit, selling more tickets is the last thing they need to do.

But that was back in 2009 at the height of the recession remember? They NEEDED to sell the tickets then.

That being said, I was in disbelief when I heard that he was going to Sub and thought it was BS. He deserves a full headlining spot like the Cure or Paul.
