I still haven't listened to very many things from 2010. I'll order what I've listened to and loved though, because I don't think anything's going to knock down my top 4.

    1. Xiu Xiu - Dear God, I Hate Myself
    2. Liars - Sisterworld
    3. LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
    4. Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
    5. Caribou - Swim
    6. The Fall - Our Future Your Clutter
    7. Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me

    LCD, Joanna, National.

Everything else has been uninteresting, underwhelming, uninspiring or unothergoodqualities. I'm really disinterested in new music right now.

That makes me sad. The amount of albums I love this year is staggering already.

I am surprised you liked this whole thing enough to include it in such a list. "Colouring of Pigeons" is certainly making it into my "best songs of 2010" list, which includes stuff that isn't necessarily in my "best albums" list though.

I have a rough list. 1 and 2 switch spots often. I like this thread because it is going to help me compile a list of stuff I still need to listen to.

    1. Wolf Parade - Expo 86
    2. Caribou - Swim
    3. Joanna Newsom - Have One On Me
    4. Tame Impala - Innerspeaker
    5. Crystal Castles - Crystal Castles
    6. The Besnard Lakes - Are The Roaring Night
    7. Ariel Pink - Before Today
    8. Flying Lotus - Cosmogramma

There were a couple great tracks on it, but there was also a lot of uninteresting electronic noodling. I can see it getting edited out in updating, but "Colouring of Pigeons" made it more interesting than a lot of other things I listened to so far this year.

This year hasn't been as good as last. I also have not been listening to a lot of new music. The list I made consists of albums I have listened to more than once, but not necessarily exceeding two listens. In fact, my top three are the only albums I have consistently listened to this year.

My discovery of DOOM about a year ago has caused a halt in new music listening.

Yes, there was way too much bullshit on it for it to be a top tier album for me. "Colouring" is close to being my favorite The Knife track ever though. it's so fucking haunting and moody and epic. They should have just released it by itself as an ep.

    1. Bee Mask – Canzoni dal Laboratorio del Silenzio Cosmico (haunting synth/field recording soundscapes... really creepy and beautiful)
    2. Zs – New Slaves (free-jazz, noise, dance)
    3. Joanna Newsom – Have One On Me
    4. Ariel Pink – Before Today
    5. Rene Hell – Porcelain Opera (ultra thick, complex analog synth project)
    6. Oneohtrix Point Never – Returnal (weird blend of 80s cheeze and sadness)
    7. Dylan Ettinger – Cutters (just plain weird. bike riding music.)
    8. Perispirit – Abysmal Penetrations (noise, electro acoustic)
    9. Yellow Swans – Going Places (noise)
    10. The North Sea – Bloodlines (noise/synth)
    11. Kevin Drumm – Necro Acoustic (noise)
    12. Isengrind – Modlitewnik (experimental folk, 1/2 of natural snow buildings)
    13. Excepter – Presidence (just plain weird)
    14. Ossining – I Will Be Missed (gorgeous synth soundscapes)
    15. Pospullen – Sun People Sleepwalker (abstract guitar workouts, really beautiful)
    16. Burning Star Core – Papercuts Theater (noise)
    17. Geoff Mullen – Bongo Closet (electro-acoustic)
    18. Dino & Nic – Plays The Theme (really bizarre synth stuff, I don't even know how to classify it. definitely synths. feels really driven by italo disco)
    19. Lee Noble – Infinity Bore (drone)
    20. Colored Mushroom and the Medicine Rocks – Colored Mushroom and the Medicine Rocks (rhythmically unhinged stuff by emeralds dude)

Jared, not hinting at anything here, but remember how you used to put a rough, one to two word description of how each band sounded and then I would investigate what you listed based on what I thought I might like. That was cool.

I didnt know they had put something new out. I had been wondering what they were up to after that one off show some months ago that Mike went to.

I agree with a lot of this except I haven't heard the Holy Fuck yet and The Jonsi album is easily in my top 5 for the year. I love it.

Most of this year for me has been about discovering artists I had never heard before.
