I've watched 4 out of the 6 episodes of the first season, and it's solid but I'm not nearly as into it as ods is. Worth watching and really pretty to look at, but not really a top tier show in my book.

This may be more suitable for the College Basketball thread, but ESPN's newest 30 for 30 special "Survive and Advance" which commemorates the 30th anniversary of the pretty-much miracle national champinoship run of the NC State Wolfpack was really good. It weaves between the tournament run and clips of coach Jim Valvano and focuses on his cancer too. Even if you don't know much about college basketball or that specific team, you'll end up being emotionally involved with it. There were a few points where I was holding back the tears.

Just to show I'm not totally selective, I feel like Tommy wrote this review lol. I'd say just give it a chance. I knew the story already, and even in the name of fighting cancer I find the whole "Jimmy V" thing a little tiring. But the documentary still got to me and I really enjoyed it.

If any of you could throw an invite to a decent private TV / Film torrent site my way, it'd be appreciated. Service providers here are busy blocking access to the ones I currently use.

So I recently started re watching Smallville. And when I say re watch I mean I lasted only about 1 1/2 seasons before I stopped watching because I thought it was getting stupid. So I'm at that point again where I think it's getting stupid again. So my questions for the people who have seen more of it then I have. Is it worth watching and gets better or is it more or less the same for the remainder of the series? I mean a 10 season show has to be good right?

Some of the characters develop extreme stupid streaks, and the show's formula is consistent (and thus extremely repetitive) throughout. For me, I loved the relationships between Clark and Lex and Clark and his dad, and of course I adored Lana... so the show was extremely watchable in that context.

What's more, I think it retains watchability today, while some shows I love (like Buffy, for instance) look extremely cheap in retrospect. Extremely.

I watched the premiere last night. it was alright and I'll watch a few more episodes to see where it goes. I never really watched all the Psycho movies so I'm not all that familiar with the backstory but he's supposed to kill his mom and um... take over... at some point, right?

ha, i kinda felt the same way, though i fell asleep. i think the problem is that it focuses on him as an adult and has too many monologues. i will still watch all the way through for the music :x

yeah, i don't know that they ever give his age in the movies, but i would put him in his late 30s/early 40s, so the series has a lot of potential since Norman is 17 in this prequel. As long as they can keep the characters interesting this could be good. I hope it's not Norman and his mom fighting (and fighting and fighting) every episode.

that would most likely be in the series finale, like Clark putting on the Superman costume on the last episode of Smallville.

Second episode was almost as good as the first. I like the 'Twin Peaks' vibe that I get in the sense of a tiny Pacific Northwestern town that is way larger and complex than it seems.

I agree. Usher knows what he's doing obviously, and Shakira is way more down to earth and relatable than Christina. This is the only singing competition show I can watch without wanting to turn it off.

That show is very funny in a subtle way. For some reason it was cracking me up a couple weeks ago when this main customer guy thought his name was Bob Burgers. Then Louise said she thought that was his name too.

The nuance to the show that makes it endearing is the playful style yet smart dialogue that Loren Bouchard has had nailed since Home Movies.

And holy shit the cameo that Bob's Burgers had in the season premier of Archer was fucking golden.
