Thread: The Cathode Ray Mission: The Misc. Television Thread

^ yes!!! I love that show!!! have you tried forcing an unexpected reboot?

the US pilot was probably the most ridiculous thing ever. it was the exact same plot as the first episode of the UK version with a new Jen and Roy and only Moss from the UK series.

I saw a small clip of the US pilot today. It could have been decent, but we'll never know. Funny to see Joel McHale in there.

I know there was a German version too, but they cancelled it after 2 episodes.

I think the US pilot would have been better if it had a new story to tell instead of using the exact same script. it was painful! I had such high hopes too.

Watch for a few brief appearances by sonofhal in a series four episode.

The IT Crowd. Yet another one to add to the list; can't believe I haven't seen that one yet. I love Richard Ayoade. Not sure what he's like on the show, but his quiz/panel show persona is so funny. Very dry.

Joel McHale is the wrong choice for that part.

he's great in it! really makes the entire show. I'm pretty sure this is where he caught his break.

hahaha you're right, the Downton Abbey soundtrack is very self-important sounding. I love that show though. Hopefully I can watch more tonight.

You're right. I'd hoped I was being vague enough so that they still wouldn't know what to look for, but I certainly enjoyed that "Wait...was that...?" moment as I experienced it.

All this talk about the IT crowd and Britcoms led me to the discovery that one of my childhood friends from England grew up to be the executive producer of the original The Office and of The IT Crowd. I always assumed he'd become a lawyer or banker or something.

All 24 eps are gold! You should marathon all of them, then post what you thought, or something.

You might not have recognized him because of the thick comedy moustache. Next time you watch, keep the moustache in mind.

yeah, once you start with an episode it's hard to resist going on to the next one!

is anyone watching Wedding Band on TBS? I know it's dumb and I shouldn't like it, but Brian Austin Green is so great in this! I like to imagine that it's BAG, Michael from Lost, Chuck and that guy with the beard from all those sitcoms that get canceled after a season (invasion, reaper, etc...) so that it's the geeky 4way of my dreams.

the cover songs are just horribly awesome lol

Girls is the type of show I'd usually despise, but I always find myself watching it. Probably due to my undeniable love for Shoshanna

I also think her casting a black dude in response to the "not enough diversity" criticism is stupid. If the show's characters are white, hip NYC girls who only hang out with other white, hip NYC people, don't try to force the token black guy into the show.

I haven't seen Glover's character, but calling him a token black guy seems a huge overstatement. The dude is hugely talented and a natural in front of the camera, no matter what color he is.

Not talking about him as an actor, I like the guy too. It's just funny that Lena received criticism and then was like "oh, we better get a black guy on this show" even though there wasn't a shot of one in the entire first season.

I really liked the season premiere btw. Andrew Rannell's character and Shoshanna always do a great job

First episode of Utopia was excellent. Is it on in the US?

In short - a graphic novel that seemed to predict the future. Turns out there is a second unpublished volume, and lots of shady people are trying to get their hands on it.
