Put on their new one Attack on Memory, skip the first track(but come back to it later), and play loudly. Enjoy? I feel like its something you'd be into Matt.

I like following along with Pearl Jam lyrics when I listen to them since I have no idea what he's saying a lot of the time. But I do love his vocals to begin with.
We're here to play some Mississippi Delta Blues. We're in a horrible depression, and I gotta admit - we're starting to like it.
Pulp.
I thought maybe they'd click once I saw them live, but they didn't. They're a solid band, I'm not denying that, I'm just confused by the rabid heaps of praise that get bestowed upon them. I realize I'm in the vast minority here, but there have to be a few of you out there who feel the same way...

I also don't really get pulp. maybe it would have been different had I listened when the records came out, but just starting to listen to them about two years ago, I like them just fine, but they don't seem anything very special to me.
I've gone into great detail a couple times about why I like Death Grips so much, but mostly just because they're so fucking awesome. I enjoy The Weeknd too, but not nearly as much as others.

I agree for the most part. Although Death Grips are a great live act, I just don't ever enjoy listening to their music outside of a live setting. Both albums are completely uninteresting to me.
I tried checking out The Weeknd with an open mind at Coachella and he just bored me to death. Maybe if I enjoyed the music on record the performance would have been more intriguing.
Yeah, Death Grips is another one. I like a lot of the beats and what's going on in the songs, but the vocals are so overdramatic.

To lead a double life.
I actually really like Pulp and devoured their records in the 90's, but they're one of those bands that I'm less enamored with as I get older. I still think there's a case to be made for Jarvis as one of the all-time great frontmen, but listening to their music now I'm struck by how affected (even phony) some of it sounds. "Common People" and "Disco 2000" are as euphoric and undeniable as ever, but I was bored by some of their Coachella set and I actually think they peaked with His 'n Hers, before all the Britpop stuff even started. From Different Class on, it's all varying degrees of schmaltz. Catchy schmaltz, but no more special than a Burt Bacharach album.
I liked This is Hardcore but found Different Class (the album EVERYONE recommends) to be boring.

The Weeknd came off as a guy who won American Idol and his backup band. I do not understand the commotion.
edit: wasnt there, watched the stream from my stereo
