I mean if it was a substantive diss rather than incoherent babbling, it might have stung a little.

Tom, I also did not care for the Raconteurs, but I love the White Stripes so much that I'm willing to forgive Mr. White. Back to defending him, he seems like he wants to surprise his fans and shake things up a bit, as evidenced by the extra show he performed at OSL in Chocolands with his female-backed band (as opposed to his regular slot on the main stage with his male-backed band). And what was that thing about him giving away thousands of dollars in cash before one of his shows? He just seems like he's a lot of fun.

I love how he sings on Sex & Religion. When that album came out I was listening to a lot of singers that could go to the intense, screamy side like Chris Cornell, Ed Kowalczyk, etc but Devin Townsend topped them all.
I don't know where else he sings like that, though. I should probably try some more Strapping Young Lad or some of the his more solo works but none of what I've heard there has grabbed me, really.
Strapping Young Lad's City is one of the best metal albums ever recorded. it's fucking brilliant. his solo stuff can be very good, and also very bad. There's a lot to wade through. The guy is brilliant, but his stuff can get a bit too bogged up in progressive rock bullshit. Ocean Machine is really good though. I still need to check out the last couple Devin Townsend Project releases myself.

I saw The Faint open for Bright Eyes in '05 and I remember thinking The Faint put on a better show. Bright Eyes was my favorite band at the time and performed Digital Ash almost in it's entirety, but The Faint were such a great time. Have you seen them multiple times and disliked it? Otherwise it could have just been an off night.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
I saw them around that time too and at 16 years old it was one of the best shows I'd ever seen.
But compared to shows/fests I've been to since then it wasn't that great, considering I haven't even thought about them in years.
They just announced "The Faint playing Danse Macabre" at venue here in November, and I read that Saddle Creek is reissuing the album. A Danse Macabre heavy set at FYF would be a blast.
This ain't no middle of the mall shit.
COCAINE.
