Default Best Album since London Calling?

There is no debate re: London Calling as the greatest album of all time.

Instead we can debate what post '79 album is 'best.' Multiple voting, etc.

London Calling didn't come out til 1980 in the US. just an FYI. And it is, indeed, the greatest album of all time, and in fact one of the greatest achievements in the history of humans.

I also voted Remain in Light although there are a number of excellent choices on that list. (and several that aren't). Pavement, Public Enemy, U2 and The Replacements could all have been nominated.

Joe Strummers preachy voice makes me want to puke.

All he ever did was sing about the songs he was singing...its absolute rubbish.

    London Calling is un-fucking-listenable

Also your "best album since" list doesn't include:

    Slanted Enchanted by Pavement
Aeroplane Over The Sea by NMH
    anything by daniel johnston
nor OK Computer which is certainly better than Kid A

    Also I would include

    Fever Ray
    Lifted
    Digital Ash
    Fevers and Mirrors
    Funeral
    Shut Up I'm Dreaming

    And no Daft Punk?????

    Fuck this Poll.

And fuck Joe Strummers pretentious excuse for music.

Sorry I hurt your feelings...but IMO the clash ruined whatever good there was in punk.

Daniel Johnston = prolific emotional genius

Joe Strummer = Hard on who took his lame work too seriously

You suggested "Digital Ash in a Digital Urn" deserves consideration as one of the best albums -- no, the best album -- of the past 25 years. Everything you say needs to be viewed in that context.

Hahahahahahaha. I think even Conor Oberst would call you out on that one, buddy.

Clash hatred and "your single" insults! Not what I expected but I like it.

Also not sure whether a 28 year-old guy should brag about being forced to wear the dog collar of monogamy in order to obtain sex, but I'm a shitheel who likes Joe Strummer so what do I know.

For the record, you only get 10 options - if I could have added more I would have thrown on Replacements, Pavement (crooked rain!), Gang of Four although I think their best record was pre-LC, maybe Funeral or Person Pitch, The Smiths, The Fall, Joy Division... NIN is also a good suggestion.

Not sure how many options I'd need to get to Digital Ash In A Digital Urn. Although when put next to Oberst's "When The President Talks To God" - possibly the worst political song in the history of the english language - the entire Bright Eyes discography looks brilliant.

Finally, to TomAz, I'm sticking w/ 1979, because that was the year I pirated a vinyl rip of London Calling via a 50 lb. package of punch cards mailed to me from Britain.
