I didn't see Flying Lotus in 09, but from what I've heard he introduced himself to the world with that performance. No one really knew who he was, but he became one of the up in comers in music with his 09 show.

Don't know what to say regarding 2008 but this year's performance is a personal favorite. The whole mood just changed when the sun set and Hot Chip began their set with One Pure Thought. It was a dance party and I never expected the group to attract that many people...well perhaps most were there to get a good spot for MGMT. However, I have heard some say their performance in the Sahara in '08 was a more suitable and intimate setting for their music

I don't think I see this one from early on in the thread answered, so: JAW-DROPPINGLY GOOD. They were in the Mojave back when that stage was only like half the size it is now and actually had not-that-sucky acoustics. All that beautiful noise in that particular environment, when no one really knew who the hell they were (most of the people around me were just like "oh we've heard they're good?") = epic! Definitely in my top 3 performances of 2001 (along w/ The Roots and St. Germain)...

Were QOTSA or El-P good in 2003?

Was AIR good in 2004? I am still irked about them having to cancel their LA date.

I wasn't at Coachella that year, but the the February 2003 Glasshouse QOTSA show is easily my favorite of the 5 or 6 times I've seen them. They were just on fucking firer while they were touring Songs For The Deaf. Brilliant.

I saw them in 2010, and watched the webcast in '08.

    I'd say '08 was better.

I saw Hot Chip three times on this (2010) tour, and Coachella was easily the worst set.

EDIT: Plus, they did this in 2008. (Couldn't find video from Coachella, but trust me: it was amazing even on the webcast.)

EDIT #2: Nevermind, that doesn't even begin to do it justice. Let me upload the bootleg recording of what I'm talking about. I listen to it all the time.

EDIT #3: This is the bootleg. Direct from the webcast. "Shake A Fist" -> "Boy From School" It's utterly mindblowing.

The Specials were amazing. Top 5 set of the weekend for me. I wasn't even expecting that much. Their sound was perfect.

Flying Lotus was fucking great in 09. Not quite as evolved as his set this year, but still incredible nonetheless. There was almost no one there to see him because there were like 5 other big acts playing at the time so I got tons of room to dance and get right up close.

I think he should replace Perry Farrell as far as being at Coachella every single year.

Incredible! They closed with Bliss and brought out the confetti balloons. After that set I knew I'd be coming back to Coachella every year. Just a great performance.

That Doom set was my first Coachella set ever. I thought it was pretty cool but I was too young to gauge a show accurately.
