Today I have been at my company for 30 days. They had put in my hire letter that they would do a 30 day review since I took a pay cut to work here. I haven't heard anything about the review and with the holidays coming up I can see it getting lost in the shuffle. I was going to email my boss but I feel a bit weird about it. Should I just suck it up and do it or wait a couple days to see if they remember?

personally, i try to avoid having awkward conversations via email. is there a way you can bring this up in person without seeming too needy?

Yeah, I probably could, I am just so much better with typed words, it keeps me from having shaky voice and tears. lol

If I were you I'd wait until after the holidays to bring it up - you will be more likely to get a favorable response then as there is usually a rush to get things done before Christmas, and your request will be just another thing to throw the pile. People are often in a good mood coming back from holidays too.

i don't see the value in waiting to ask. it's been 30 days. unless the office is abnormally busy, just ask. the reason i don't suggest putting something in writing is 1) you may get an answer without a conversation and 2) writing makes things more permanent. for HR reasons, they may have to respond a certain way via email, but could maybe respond a different way in person.

If the company is cheap, then it's definitely up to you to take the initiative. I would ask, but not expect an answer right away. Something like "Hey, I know the holidays are busy with people on vacation, can I setup a quick meeting for the first week of Janury to go over my 30 day review?". You're letting him know you haven't forgotten, and it gives you time to put together what you want in writing.

Bonus if he was already on top of it and says "No need for a meeting, your $8 an hour raise has been submitted and you'll get it with the next paycheck. Thanks for reminding me, I had forgotten to tell you about it".

I think this is the correct answer. They committed to a 30 day review; it's been 30 days; time for the review. If they're too busy, fine, as long as it's on their mind and scheduled. If they just forgot (which happens), then they will probably appreciate the reminder, assuming the reminder is cordial and professional.

An employee should never be afraid to discuss reviews, or salary, or time off, or anything like that, as long as expectations are reasonable and demeanor pleasant. Talking about money with a professional attitude can only serve to enhance one's image.

Aren't days of his vacation of year the 15th?
Aren't days the 15th from his 2012? carry forward about the vacation of 2013(a maximum of the 30th)

Cannot the person who doesn't have the vacation balance as of January 1 take the vacation in ending of May for ten days?
The vacation of the year had been given up to now on January 1 and it existed.
The vacation was able to be acquired previously in 20 days in February even if it waited until December and the vacation was not taken for 20 days.

4/1/2012 was 8th anniversary of [company] for him.
1/1/2013 is not 9th anniversary Yet.

I just gave two weeks notice and was told no, like it was an option. He then asked me to let them have more than two weeks. I even agreed to it at first but then realized that I would then have to wait another month for insurance. Fuck that.
