My line manager feels compelled to use the white board to draw/ list examples or concepts for me, that could easily and simply explained verbally. He thinks it makes him look relevant and strategic. But I think it's partly because he has difficulty forming a sentence that makes sense.

Office Communicator is generally useful, but the lurkers are starting to kill it.

~8am this morning, I log into my PC and my status automatically changes to Available. 10 seconds later I get a popup conversation from someone who wants to talk on the phone about something I could have addressed via email. They clearly tagged me for Status Change Alerts. What makes them think that they are my top priority the second I step foot in my office.

And then, there are the true Lurkers. At least once a day I get a popup message “Hi Wes” or “Hello” from a name I don’t recognize followed by nothing…until I respond with a “Yes?”, “Hi”, or “Go on”. This morning there was a 5 minute gap between “Hi Wes” and “How are You?” and another 2 minutes before “got a sec?” follwed by "phone #?" If I don’t know you, please drop the formalities and just write up what you need from me.

Finally, why would people start a conversation with me just to ask my phone number? “Hi Wes, do you have a number I can call you at?” Right click on my name, select properties, and my number is right there.

By the time I got out of gym at 630 this morning, I had six emails regarding the casino job and four reminders reminding me I had four jobs due today. I fucking buckled down in the office and got everything done by 11:30.
Said "fuck this I'm outa here", came home to eat/relax and here I am doing the exact same fucking thing as I do in office: browse reddit, this forum, take phone calls, and answer emails.

A former boss from a job I left more than 3 years ago sent me an email asking if I remember where I saved an electronic copy of the Administrative Guide. This book was a project I worked on for about 6 months and is (I think) around 300 pages long. Seems like someone deleted it off their network drive. The only backup was in a folder called "Robin" on the network drive, but the executive assistant deleted that entire folder soon after I quit without even looking to see what was in there.

My IT company has been working on my bosses computer for the last two days because he can't log in to the accounting software... come to find out my boss just forgot his username and password. Yep, that's money well spent.

Everyone in the office does, not the people in the field though. My coworker is pissed because she has to take some of her work back that I took while she was on vacation and she never took back. I think I prefer to work with redneck tobacco chewing boys over cranky bible thumping bitchy women.

The email address was fine. It was the person's name. It was the setting where you choose how you want your name to appear. I remember getting a resume with the email along the lines of hotmama420@...

One applicant I had years ago included a website URL of all her graphic design work on her resume. It showed all of her artistic/personal projects including nude shots of her and her friends. Didn't go over so well.

Casual dress the entire month of November, but only if you volunteered for "Make a Difference Day" at a local school (must wear a United Way sticker on your badge!). There are several people that did NOT volunteer, but they are dressing in casual clothes. PEOPLE ARE PISSED!!
