I thought the idea was that you donate $100 or do the challenge? that doesn't mean people can't do both, I agree, but it certainly makes it hard to claim that they are doing the challenge to brag about the donation.

    I've returned with reinforcements.

Remember, the way the challenge is set up, the ice-drenching is the alternative to contributing actual money. Some of the people issuing the challenges have tweaked the rules by asking people to contribute $10 even if they do soak themselves. Even so, a lot of the participants are probably spending more money on bagged ice than on ALS research.

i don't know why these types of campaigns bother me so much, but they do. i think the challenge aspect is what annoys me. i'm glad they have raised a bunch of money and i hope it does some good. it's a debilitating disease. but i don't go around challenging my friends to donate to causes related to my diseases. i wish as a society we incorporated donations and public service more into our lives without it being a one time thing.

It's because people have found a way to turn giving money to charity as an excuse to get attention and make it all about themselves.

and i get that also. volunteering makes me feel good about myself. it's not purely about doing good for others, but also about doing something fulfilling for myself. i just don't like soliciting friends for donations. it's why i hate kickstarters that aren't related to some sort of dire emergency or "runs for the cure" where people ask you for donations. asking your friends for money is generally tacky.

As someone with a chronic disease that has no cure, cystic fibrosis, that is in its end stage that has me awaiting a double lung transplant, I couldn't care less about how money is raised. Any amount in any way that may go on to curing this horrible fucking disease is fine by me. Same for ALS.

Agreed fully. And this actually HAS raised a lot of money.

Bay area people but more specifically San Francisco people. Thursday I am moving up to your area. As I have a place to stay at first until I get myself situated I am only bringing clothes up and basic necessities this time around. Is there any item of clothing that I would need that I just am not thinking about? Obviously I know warmer clothes but I'm just thinking specifics things that might have escaped my mind or I have not thought about.

Do you anticipate interviewing for jobs during this initial phase? If so, bring your nice clothes, shoes, belt, ties, etc. Otherwise, I recommend a pair of pants, shorts, t-shirts w/ long sleeve alternatives, polo's, a light jacket, sunglasses and versatile shoes.

Yeah I am planning on bringing all of the nice clothes stuff. Yeah I have some jackets but I don't have a windbreaker type one. Is one needed or not? I'm just thinking of things like that example. That being said is a windbreaker needed?

HAHA no probably not. I don't know that was just an example I used and then it hit me well I don't have one might as well ask. I did have a green one though in middle school in 2000 I believe I rocked that shit out of that almost everyday. Not my proudest moment.

I just ate a breakfast burrito that was comprised of egg, breakfast sausage, a piece of ham, 2 slices of bacon, and chopped jalepenos.

The menu didn't list what would be in the burrito, I didn't ask beforehand. Is that an odd breakfast burrito, or do I just know nothing about them?

Breakfast burritos can vary, but those ingredients are pretty run of the mill. Can't say I've ever had jalapenos in one, though.

They haven't been a regular part of my diet since my UCSB days, and even then what I got from La Cantina never had ham AND sausage AND bacon.

I've never had a breakfast burrito with all three meats - it's usually one. And I've never had one with chopped jalapenos. Most of the ones I had growing up were a single meat, eggs, potato (either cubed or french fries), and sometimes cheese.

Right, this burrito had all the meats and none of the potatoes.

i find potatoes an odd aspect of breakfast burritos. sometimes people serve it that way and i always get it without potatoes. i don't need tortilla AND potatoes. the three meats is odd to me and there should always be cheese in my opinion.
