Almost six months ago now I began employment at a pretty big company. I've done, seen and learned more about my field in this time than I have over the last couple of years. The scale of projects pretty much equal what I dreamed to one day do, the money involved is like nothing I've ever seen. I get in to work early and I get home late, tired, hungry, and some days I'm just ready for bed immediately. But the best part about it all, is that I absolutely fucking LOVE IT! I'm gonna go eat now. This week has been viscous and I am pooped.

That kid jokes about the girl being so dead, because she had a Wang stuck up her butt and there was no reaction. He jokes about somebody pissing on her. Fuck, I hope those boys lose their smiles real fast.

You know what I meant, you're a smart girl. Though it was a little viscous as well.

Power is out for several blocks around me, it's kinda creepy. Big old explosion, flash and crash.

The New Yorker's Top Ten Stories of 2012 are absolutely fascinating. I love the Scientology expose, and the second story, called the Obama Memos, is eminently infuriating. It'll make you hate the republicans, and actually give you good evidence as to why that, currently, is a rational approach.

Oh man, thank you for this, Bryan. I have fucking nothing to do at work all week and have been scouring the internet for enjoyable reads.

Those will take a decent amount of time. I'd definitely recommend scrolling to the bottom of the page for each story and hitting the "View as single page" button. Otherwise they make you scroll through 26 pages or some bullshit.

"The Caging of America" makes a very prescient point that is at the root of my issue with our penal system:

You can get off if the cops looked in the wrong car with the wrong warrant when they found your joint, but you have no recourse if owning the joint gets you locked up for life. You may be spared the death penalty if you can show a problem with your appointed defender, but it is much harder if there is merely enormous accumulated evidence that you weren’t guilty in the first place and the jury got it wrong.

I went to the hospital for the first time as an adult for being sick this morning. This is the 6th day I have had this outrageous flu. Six full days of a headache and I have never had one last longer than a couple hours. I haven't ate anything in three days. Just sipping on water, gatorades and a one a day smoothie. Coughing non stop, the nurse said I have bronchitis. My temp was 100.8. I am super dehydrated. I was confused and had loss of balance for three of the days. I'm sore head to toe. The nurse gave me a fucking perscription for an inhaler. Waste of time and money. "Let it run it's course, there's nothing we can do."

I've had bronchitis multiple times and while I did get an inhaler I never had any of those other symptoms you've described. It's always been nothing more then a painful dry cough. Maybe there are multiple type of bronchitis though. Either way that sucks I hope yo feel better real soon.

Thanks, I'll be happy if it's only 2 more days. My headache has eased up a little and that was the worst part.

Didn't Patrick start a thread about commiserating with sick people? I can't remember the name though. Sorry about your flu -- it sucks, which is why I always get a flu shot.

Why the fuck would you go to the doctor for a flu? There is very little they can actually do, and they mostly tell you what you already know.

Yeah, I'm pretty much constantly sick but I blame that on taking the bus every day, and particularly taking the bus route that goes to and from the UW hospital.

I guess you are JK but I think there is something to that. I rarely get sick and I can eat most anything and it's like meh.......Maybe the food thing is from eating everything from dog, to horse, to intestines (think menudo), etc and it's usually "Seconds?"....cr****

This is as good a place as any to gloat that I have the entire season (?) of Downton Abbey season 3 downloaded, and I'm going to watch all of it before PBS airs it.

To be topical, I guess if I had the flu, I could manage that in a day or two lying in bed.

Ron, i am pretty sure your overloading with 20,000mg of Vitamin C every day from eating a billion limes might be helping you. your teeth will fall out and you'll burn your esophageal lining and probably give yourself an ulcer, but no more flu for you.
