Here. we. go.
Not a REM fan. But I have seen them headline festivals a few times and they do bring it for the masses and I enjoyed it. I think they deserve to headline a Coachella, so make it sooner rather than later.
So yeah, approved for Coachella consumption.
I said some things here that might spark an argument. I edited it so I could keep it out of this thread. But yeah, sort of TCHY.

completely agree, they would be a great headliner. good call.
Bump because I'm tired and slightly obnoxious. Goodnight.
I'm really surprised they've never been at Coachella. They would fit in perfectly, and they can't be that hard to book, can they? I'd love to see it.
i saw them at sasquatch and wasnt impressed, but they were playing in the pouring rain and didnt seem to mind.

I would love this, I have not had the chance to see them live yet. Then if they get Tori Amos maybe they will do something together since they are friends. Maybe the song they made together that was never released, lol wishful thinking.

You know... I'm not the biggest R.E.M. fan, but I must commend the OP for his creativity. You're the first person to post a relevant headliner request that hasn't been regurgitated over and over again. I applaud you.
R.E.M. would be a totally legit headliner at Coachella worthy of the Saturday closing spot.

Bump. Traveling the past two days and glad to get back on to see the support.
I was blown away by them in 2003. Amazing performance and stellar setlist.
Setlist when I saw them...

What the hell is wrong with you?? Their performance was stellar, and I was watching from way back on the lawn.
See, these two 'get it'

I've kicked myself for not seeing R.E.M. the day before Radiohead in 2003, BUT I did have the privilege of witnessing Micheal Stipe sing the chorus of Karma Police during Radiohead's encore.
lurv 'Nightswimming'. Something about this band...the americana and Stipe's unique perspectives. Fave song off the latest album is 'Houston'.
APPROVED
Paul made a big mistake when he had the chance to book REM (instead of Jack Johnson) in 2009.
Let's hope REM is available for 2011. Their new album (post-Accelerate and Live at the Olympia Theatre) is due out the first quarter of 2011, so the timing would be perfect.
"All you kids wanna do is eat pills and dance around with your Aidz NeedleZ."
Just a mindless OP bump. Thank you guys for the continued approvals.
Behind this 100%. They might be my favorite band.

If anyone is on eMusic, this is a good deal. Downloaded it a few months ago and it was like ten or so credits for thirty-nine tracks.
