Mix Exchange

I've been sitting on this idea for a while, because I'm not sure what the interest level is (considering we already have multiple threads for mixes), but I would like to start a monthly mix exchange.

It would go like this: sign up to make a mix, then make it*. I will put everyone into a random pairing generator and ask for addresses. You then put your mix into the mail and wait for one to arrive in your mailbox. I would like to do this by regular mail, rather than by internet hosting, because it feels a lot more personal and also receiving things in the mail is fun. Plus this way you can make cover art if you feel so inclined.

*I think mixes being made BEFORE getting matched up to a partner would be good so no one feels compelled to tailor their music choices. I think this way there would be greater exposure to new or not-frequently-listened-to things. Plus if the mix was already made people wouldn't procrastinate mailing it out as much. Obviously I am willing to take your input on this.

If there is enough interest let's shoot for a June mix, deadline TBD.

SECOND EDIT: First mix deadline is May 26th, will be emailing out assignments on that day. Please send your address to boardmixexchange@gmail.com by next week (let's be generous and say till the 22nd) if you would like to participate.

If you confirm participation and do not send a mix you will be banned from all future mix exchanges. No exceptions because your mix should be made PRIOR TO GETTING YOUR ASSIGNMENT.

THIRD EDIT TO SUMMARIZE ALL OFFICIAL PROCEDURES:

I honestly thought that was all perfectly clear. The organization of this has been pretty much set the same since day 1, only the dates change.

Email is the only "official " means of direct communication for organisational purposes.
Email by the date to get in.
Email if you need to drop out
Email if you are worried about you or your recipient not getting a mix.

Make your mix (on CD) BEFORE you get the address, send it out in a timely manner.

Use the companion thread for track lists, reviews, cover art, downloads.

IMPORTANT OFFICIAL UPDATE

I have gotten my shit together re: banning people who never sent out a mix. I started a new email address, mixcomplaints@gmail.com, at which to email me if you never received anything from round 1 or round 2. If you would like retribution please email me with which round you got fucked on. If you are more of a turn-the-other-cheek sort then don't email.

I'm sorry to introduce a new email to system but my original email is getting cluttered and it's hard to keep track of what's happening in there.

P.S. Please don't use that email for "My mix hasn't gotten here yet!" concerns until a full round has passed. You can email me those sorts of concerns at the original email, but I want to mixcomplaints solely for cases where assignments for the next round have gone out and you still don't have anything.

OH ALSO sometimes when burning cds the tracklist data doesn't get on there. Please test yours to make sure it's there, or if not include a written tracklist. You know how it is.

I like return addresses, too. I've had mail disappear before and fully intend to put some work into the cover art for this.
