Goldfrapp at Hollywood Bowl on Jun 27 2010

Sorry if this is being discussed in another thread. I'm not on here often but I did use search before posting.

Anyway, anyone going to see Goldfrapp at the Bowl on June 27? I'm trying to decide whether I should see them at the Bowl or up at the Fox Theater in Oakland/SF. I love Goldfrapp and their live shows are always pretty damn amazing, but the Bowl tickets are so much more expensive than any of their other gigs. I don't think I've ever been to a KCRW World Fest gig before but the steep prices and the fact that there are two other artists on the bill leads me to believe that Goldfrapp won't even get a full slot. Don't they have strict curfews at the Bowl on Sundays as well? Anyone know if there's something special about KCRW World Fest gigs? Does the LA Phil join them? (No indication of this on the site.)

The Bowl's a magical setting for a concert and it would be awesome to see Goldfrapp play what I'm guessing must be their biggest gig ever but I'm not sure that can compete with $32 tickets in SF on Pride weekend. That Oakland/SF gig is going to be crazy fun. Sorry for the 20 questions. But that's how we learn, right?

This will be my 4th album tour and even though I've never seen Alison perform outdoors, I would still say that the Fox Theatre is your best bet for a great show. I've never been to the Fox (it hadn't opened by the time I moved to Seattle 1.5 years ago), but I've heard very good things about the venue. Also, the show at the Fox will afford you the opportunity to see Alison's performance from a much closer vantage point. The only thing missing from the Fox is the opening act at the Bowl. The Fox is a definite win in my book, which is why I am staying in CA for a full week after my friend's wedding just so I can attend the show

the only reason you should consider the bowl over oakland is the lack of travel time & expense.

I love the Bowl, and even though I haven't been to the Fox, just from the standpoint of capacity, iId go Fox if it's actually a legitimate choice for you.

Hmph. Genuine, helpful, friendly responses on this board? I was expecting the usual lambasting. Guess it must be the nice weather. Yeah, I'm definitely leaning toward doing the Nor Cal show. The expense of flying up there, staying with friends and having fun all Pride wkend will actually be only a little more expensive than the top ticket at the Bowl. Looks like I'll be starting a Nor Cal thread shortly. Thanks, guys!

I like Goldfrapp. I saw her twice at The Orpheum. I'm not going because I don't care for the other acts.

I'm up to "I Wanna Life". This is a step forward for her, but not perhaps for those that prefer the rocking tunes. This is beautifully poppy. Perfect concert date with the wife.

I have to stay in town for work, so it's the Bowl for me. I'm done whining. Time to get excited about catching their Bowl debut.

Here they are in Moscow. The band sounds great, her vocals sound spot on and I don't recall ever seeing have this much fun on stage. Can't wait!
