Best bars in Los Angeles

I did my shopping today for the week at the Hollywood Farmer's market on Fairfax. Picked up a fine looking grass-fed tri-tip and center cut chops from the meat markets and some other goodies from Monsieur Marcel like olive oil and pasta.

Anyway, I believe there is a Mendocino Farms just across the street next to Trader Joe's. I'll give it a try!

I just had the most divine sandwich at my first visit to Mendocino Farms in Marina Del Rey. Got the prosciutto and roasted chicken sandwich, absolutely incredible. Got the Steak BLT to go, gonna have it for dinner.

How was the steak? It's the only thing I've had there that was somewhat of a disappointment. Still, what a fantastic restaurant.

Oh, and the Shrimp Po' Boy? Killer. It's got candied jalapenos, which are incredible.

Btw, Lazy Ox now has two "Social Hours" going during the week. Sunday-Friday 5pm-7pm and Sunday-Thursday 10pm-midnight. $3 drinks and $5 appetizers

I realized this when I saw the MacArthur Park sign as I was driving away, haha. I get so turned around in that area. Which is dumb, because it's very straight-forward.

WANT.PASTRAMI.NOW! Looks good TG- Love Langers! I've always thought The Hat had decent pastrami too. And Johnnies down in SM.

I ate at Stone Brewery on the way back up from SD last night. Rather disappointed with the food experience. We had Boar's Ribs, Cesar Salad and a Hummus plate. The ribs and salad were just ok. The ribs had a cinnamon twang to them and were tender but not spectacular enough to justify the price. The hummus was so bland we sent it back- very rare for me to do something like that but it was warranted.

On the upside, the landscaping there cannot be beat. Perfect night in the beer garden. And, of course, the beer! I got a growler filled up with Saison du Buff. I also had a pint of High Water Brewing's Hop Riot IPA on tap. Happy times!

The Hat and Johnnies are both awesome. Any Pastrami fan needs to get to Oinkster in Eagle Rock. They smoke their meat a little longer, and it's got a really good rich flavor. They make great fries as well and have good beer on tap.

The Hat is one of my favorite places to go for pastrami in LA; still haven't made it to the Oinkster, though, despite my semi-regular trips to Eagle Rock.

You could do LA Live or there's a ton of great stuff around the 7th/metro area and just take the expo line from there. it's like a 10 minute ride to the Shrine.
