Yup. Just yesterday. Got the Truffle Burger and Pickle Plate. Top notch! I am planning to go again Sunday. Will write more later. But if you get a chance, look at their online menu before you go- it'll help.

My girlfriend and I went there this weekend and it was great. Everything I love about Umami and more. She got the Umami Burger and I ordered the Manly Burger, both delicious and cooked to medium rare perfection. We also got the Brainase fries and Tempura Onion Rings. Everything was great, and we'll definitely be going back.

Good to hear. Yea, they dial in that medium rare on the burger as well as anyone. Very high quality beef too. My boss and I (he's vegetarian) are doing lunch there on Friday if we can get out of the chaos long enough.

Los Angeles Brewing Company is doing its soft open. Last night they were packed and the staff was pretty bad, but they do have 100+ beers on tap. It's got a distinct Yard House feel. I wouldn't go back unless I had lots of friends going.

Well, still soft open. Like we were discussing on it a few pages back, I am perfectly fine to give it a little time to gel.

If you do hit the swine and beer thing let me know. I traded a few emails with Bruce Kalman and then gave him a call to reserve spot. Very nice guy and he took time to talk me through what to expect at the event and even chatted with me about the recent direction Urbano has gone with their menu. He said since the pig announcement they are just over a quarter booked for it.

I find the Beer Chicks interesting too. Been wanting to participate in one of their crawls so this'll be a nice intro.

Think fast! I need recommendations for Korean BBQ in or near K'town. I know that's ridiculous since I live there, but I've only been to 3 or 4 Korean restaurants in LA and unfortunately they were all subpar.

Also, any dinner recommendations close (within a mile or two) to the Troubadour?

BBQ is the preference for my friends visiting, but they're foodies so they're open to anything, even the more... authentic stuff.

EDIT: BBQ is the preference of K'town; anything is good for Troubadour-adjacent.

Troubadour adjacent, you can grab something quick at Bossa Nova and i've heard good things about Flavor of India which is on the same block. If you want some subpar italian with a possible (old) celebrity sighting, you can also do Dantana's.

I don't know if you have much experience with KBBQ btw, but the secret is for everyone to just order everything together and share. you'll get to try more stuff and it'll keep the cost way down. I've been there several times with like 8 people, totally stuffed with food and much beer and soju and walked out for less than $30/person including tip. They're known for beef - the kalbi is expensive and in smallish portions but is to fucking die for, and the bulgogi is good and plentiful. I've seen some yelpers diss on the pork, and while it wasn't as good as the beef, it was good too. I haven't had seafood there, but that's not really what KBBQ is about.
