Booking A Hotel For Next Year

If any of you guys are taking a chance by booking a hotel for next year this early (assuming the days for coachella are 15-17 or 22-24) make sure you read carefully the cancellation policies. Many hotels have changed their online booking policies for some of the rooms they offer. Some will charge you the entire stay as soon as you book your room (instead of charging you at check out), and on top of that you cannot cancel the room and there are no refunds. My cousin works at a travelodge in Palm Springs and he said they have been getting a lot of reservations for the days of April 14-18 2011, but people have been calling to complain because they are already being charged their stay even though they're not staying there for another year. They can't get refunded or cancel the reservation either. So they're stuck with those days. Again just read the reservation very carefully and make sure it's not a non refundable room you're booking. Or just wait 'till the dates are announced.

15-17th would mean Stagecoach being Easter weekend - or all the stages having to be left set up for an extra week if they bump it to the weekend after (and a much bigger security bill to look after all that shit).

I truly have no idea what weekend it will be next year - could even be 8-10th or 29th-1st (taking it old school).

I think it's still too early to book it. I was able to book my room in Oct '09 because the lockers website accidentally spilled the beans on the Coachella dates. Keep your eyes open, do your research and good luck.

8th-10th is too early, i believe. they have to wait until polo season is over to begin set up and that is usually the end of march/1st week of april. takes about 2 weeks to set up the venue. i think they started this year around april 3rd.

If the dates for 2011 end up over Easter Weekend I still wouldn't even second guess it. I would love to spend my sunday feast at the campground. In fact, I pray for this.

many hotels allow booking up to 12 months in advance.

It really is tough this year. Booking at this point is a waste as it really could be any set of dates. I must say though im leaning towards the end of April.

I've booked a suite in a nice place for a good price (< $150) every weekend in April. Cancellation policy is the day before the book date.

Worth it to me because I'm not charged anything, can cancel all the other dates, and I won't be gouged by some cheap motel.

This year I booked at the Best Western and canceled my reservation literally a week before the festival, no charges, no problem.

just booked every weekend in april 2011. no cancellation fees if cancelled day before. safe and cheap.

I booked April 8th - 11th, 15-18th, and 29th-2nd. No way the festival is on Easter and I think the first week in April is wayy to early. I am pretty sure it will be one of these 3 weeks although who knows.

I generally just book the day they announce the actual dates. Never had any problem getting a room, they generally don't sell out until it gets a lot closer.

Reserved in November last year and got a 2-bdrm condo 1.5 miles from the grounds for $525 for a week. Damn.

when dates are annouced rooms will still be cheap(er) at around $129 and then later going up to over $200 a night.

Id rather book now at $55 a night.

I just checked rates for the Best Western Date Tree and rates for the weekend of the 15th-17th next year is already 1K +. Bastards.
