I have to admit, it's infinitely more fun bashing on Tool than defending them.

When I first got a text message today about a tool summer tour I thought, "Wait. Is this text message from last year and I am somehow getting it now? Couldn't be." At any rate I will be attending at least one show for sure. Even if it is the same fucking list. But I am here to tell you that it will not be the same setlist.

So who thinks its gonna be the same ol' same ol'?

I defended Tool for months on this board in '06 (under a different name, obviously), but that period ended up being the twilight of my interest in this band. Seen them upwards of 10 times, with the last being that lackluster headlining performance, and each show was progressively less appealing. And, based on the judgments leveled here, it sounds like I haven't missed much over the past four years.

But for what it's worth, those first tours in support of Lateralus when they played Disposition>Reflection>Triad.....GREAT SHIT.

    ouch

There has to be a sheer miracle for them to actually change the songs they are playing.

Oh, and are we going for ''Tool will differ the setlist up with older songs that havent been played. Or: NEW SONGS''

Say what you will about them, but very few bands have a thread blow up like this anytime there is even mention of them possibly playing live. Why is that?

I did say one of the "few bands". Radiohead also generates a lot of luv. As does NiN. Tool is better live than either of those bands of course.

Except their best and most enduring record musically is 10k Days. Other than that, totally agree.

You must be crazy Sonnyboy. While Tool is incredible live, playing the same setlist over and over is just unacceptable. I do blame Maynard for this. The best show I have ever seen in my life was LiTS Vegas. Nothing TooL has done, so far, comes close to this tour. I still can't wait to see Tool on this tour

I've come down hard them for the setlist before. And yes, it is 100% Maynard who calls that shot, no question.
