I'm sure Kraftwerk had a release in 79.
Thank you, GPS! I was not only having a hard time remembering what I was listening to in 1979, but I was having a hard time finding credibility in a poll started by someone who wasn't even a sperm droplet then.
Okay, now that Mr.Credibility has arrived, I can take this poll more seriously... Now, if only I could remember 1979 as clearly as Tom...![]()
1. Run to a nice patch of grass on the fields and lay face down.
2. Tilt your head ninety degrees with your forehead temple resting on your forearm and watch people through the vision pocket right underneath your armpit hair.
3. Do this for a few hours until you get comfortable.
A Daft Punk thread containing 'nothing of substance'. How bout that.

Whiskey Sour
2 oz blended whiskey
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
1 cherry
1/2 slice lemon
Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.
Right. And if you're on this board, you likely fall into the "music geek" category, hence why you were listening to those albums that most people would find at least slightly obscure.
For instance, I just googled "top albums 1979" and it looks like the best-sellers were The Wall, Highway to Hell, Off the Wall, The Clash, and The B-52s.

I'm pretty sure The Clash was not a big seller in the US in 1979.
Also, 52nd Street would be on any best seller list for 1979. Also Get the Knack. And Donna Summer and Rod Stewart.
Edit: and Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty.
I am assumming that this is my favorite album(s) that were being played at my house in 1979, not looking back in time as of today.

It would be my preference as opposed to be a 25 year morning quaterback.
I had no idea who Joy Division was in 1979, but I could have won a Debbie Harry nipple sucking contest in 79.
Blondie, Joe Jackson, Cheap Trick, The Cars, and the B52s would be my list for 1979.
The B52s would be my favorite 1979 album. I still have my original LP.

I pick "The Wall". "Off the Wall" would be my runner up, for "Don't stop 'til you get enough" alone! Never been a ginourmous Clash fan, but they'd be my third pick. For compilations, I would go with Bee Gees Greatest! I love that set. This is all in retrospect, of course, I wasn't even born until 1980.
