they're on tour this summer, they could come and do their thing next april. who's with me?
That would be amazing.
Jeff Goldblum for main stage 2012.
2011 Perfectchella.
I loved Rush as a kid, but sell me on why they fit as a coachella act. What musical style innovation can you credit them with that puts them in the company of past acts?
I'm a reasonable man, get off my case....
Well if they played they would probably headline. Therefor I would have to say no, because that would take a potential spot away from Outkast & Rammstien.
Fuck. No.
I am neither foxy, nor a lady.
Neil Young - Kanye West - Beck - PJ Harvey - The Knife - Basement Jaxx - Tom Waits - Shpongle (Live) - Flying Lotus (Live) - The Avalanches - Autechre - Eels - Fat Freddy's Drop - Liquid Liquid - OFWGKTA - Freddie Gibbs - Big K.R.I.T. - Phantogram - Christian Scott - Nosaj Thing - Gold Panda - James Blake

Sorry, I really don't like Rush, worst-vocals-ever...unless they performed 2112 only, then maybe...but "todays Tom Sawyer"...wtf.

Rush was there this year. Only they were called Coheed & Cambria.

Counter-signed. The last thing I want to do at Coachella is tailgate in the parking lot with some balding, fat middle-aged guy with a ponytail and Harley Davidson tanktop before jamming out to The Spirit Of Radio.
^^ see I'd actually love partying with that guy.
even more so if he didn't have a pony tail.
Malignant Narcissism and La Villa Strangiato (with Alex ranting)
If you enjoyed Les Claypool, how could you not enjoy his predecessor, Geddy Lee? His voice has toned done significantly recently.
Vocal criticism aside, see below for an instrumental:

Hmmm...would they bring 3D cartoon characters?
5/11/12 - Cloud Cult - El Rey // 5/23/13 & 5/24/13 - Boris - Echoplex // 6/7/13 + 6/8/13 - Jubilee Music Festival
6/9/13 - Devo/GZA - Natural History Museum // 6/11/13 - Bjork - Hollywood Bowl // 6/21/13-6/23/13 - Solid Sound Music Festival - MASS MOCA

Everyone would go nuts during Tom Sawyer. The light show monkeys would go crazy.

Some of you people are horribly confused about music.
Did anyone see the PiL set? I think Geddy Lee was playing guitar ...
I can't say Rush headlining greatly excites me, but neither did Roger Waters.
Still I can't say 'yes'. Given the amount of money they would want to headline, I think the money could be better spent on someone else.
They have had a prolific touring and recording history. That is, they probably have made a great deal of $ from record royalties (especially 2112 and Moving Pictures), and still tour often enough to make a reasonable sum of money, hence not caring about how much Coachella would offer them. It's cliche to say, but they would not release new material and tour with this new material if they cared so much about money.
Just a thought..
Well if they didn't care about money then they wouldn't be auctioning off their best seats, charging $300 for package seats on their summer tour. Even a half decent seat for their current tour is $150. From what I gather they ask about $1.5-2m a show. I don't see why they would change that for Coachella.
In all I am just convinced they would be that great for Coachella.
