god if only i would have just said fuck it and left my friends to go see gorillaz. i hate you sly. now and forever.
"do-be-doo"
YYYs, Aesop Rock, The Faint, Tegan and Sara, Metric, Wu-Tang, The Postal Service, El-P, Hot Chip, Pretty Lights, Pheonix, Band of Horses, Bat for Lashes, Pusha T, Grizzly Bear, Descendents, Passion Pit, Jurassic 5, Dropkick Murphys, Vampire Weekend, Two Door Cinema Club
I refuse to believe that was Sly. I can't even believe I fucked off most of The Gorillaz to see that shit. The sound was fucked off, the synth was drawing too much feedback and the whole scene in the Mojave was jonesy as fuck.
When I heard the sound check before Little Boots, I thought to myself, this tent is gonna blow up, that was right before I had a premonition that something bogus was about to go down which I had expressed to the person next to me. The rest was history. I can't believe I got duped twice.
What's sadder than sad? Answer: Sly Stone
“I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me.”
Oh dear.
Seriously, I don't think that was Sly Stone at the Mojave last night.
So that is who that was.
come on you guys, this is just the type of show he wants to put on these days. some of you are just too caught up in that "play your old shit!" mindset to give his new stuff a try
seriously tho, did anyone stick around for the end of his set? did he just sort of stumble away mumbling while the band members looked at each other with confused looks on their faces? wish i could have seen this one
disrespectful to the audience and to Sly to even let him "perform" in that state
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
awesome, glad i skipped out and said fuck it at 7:05 when they said it would be delayed. what a shit show.
July 21- Soundgarden- Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
July 30- Rage Against the Machine/Muse- LA Coliseum
Oct 21- Portishead- Berkeley Greek
Nov 18- Pixies- Fox Theater Bakersfield
Yes!
lulz.
best performance ever
I was at the rail in the Gobi from Local Natives (2:00) on waiting for Sly and was there when the "postponement" was announced.
Now instead of thinking about what might have been, I can watch these videos and be glad I missed what actually was.
COACHELLA 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013
I left the Gorillaz after a few songs to catch Sly, and that was easily one of the saddest things I've ever watched. The man can't even walk to the keyboard by himself.
Holy shit is that sad.
It was still a hell of a good time tho, if a terribly pathetic one.
Let's face it, if you saw the performance it was a one off and something to talk about ... One thing positive, his voice was good, a lot of the old people you hear, their voices suck .. day in a life with Sly
Coachella Wk2 04/19-04/21
Wakarusa 05/30-06/02
Bonnaroo 06/13-06/16
Dave Matthews Band 08/23-08/24
BurningMan 08/26-09/02
VooDoo 11/01-11/03
Bridge Benefit 10/???
I heard he played late and audience members laughed at him because he was in a wheelchair. That is fucked up. I am not a Sly Stone fan, but I also do not laugh at people who are physically handicapped.
They didnt laugh because he was in a wheelchair. They laughed because he played piano from a rolling office chair, and he kept zoning out and rolling off in the thing.
Which, if you were there, was hilarious.
I am a Sly Stone fan, and he was fucked up. I laughed at home watching him try to walk, try to sing, and try to play the piano on the streaming broadcast. He was not in a wheel chair & his voice did not sound good. Perhaps Ron mistook one of the back-up singers for Sly.
They posted your videos on MOG. http://mog.com/MOG_News/blog/1916369
whoa - yay heroin
sweet jesus. I really wish I would have skipped Gorillaz for this.
hahaha when womack and sly ran into each other backstage womack must have thanked sly for really bombing on stage...can a black man get some love?
