Yep. There was a part during Pavement's set when the curtain behind them flapped open a little and you could see part of the big "GORILLAZ" letters, and the some of the crowd starting cheering.

^ I'll admit, I was waiting for Gorillaz, but I actually enjoyed Pavement's set quite thoroughly. I had never heard any of their songs aside from "Cut Your Hair" before Coachella, but I was on a definite Pavement kick after I got home figuring out their setlist and what not. Great show.

That's okay, it's his loss. It took me until after Coachella to really start to get Pavement. They were pretty fucking good!

I found the same to be true for MBV.

This phenomenon completely baffled me; those were my two most anticipated sets of the last two Coachellas, respectively. Both sets delivered in a big way to a core of extremely enthused fans that easily made it past the otherwise largely sparse and disinterested crowds. I get that neither band has released new music in the last decade (or two), but that didn't dampen anyone's enthusiasm for the Pixies. One would think that major festival reunions of indie/alt rock legends like MBV and Pavement would have been a bigger deal.

because hollywood bowl tickets are expensive to be close ,plus pavement isn't headlining the show Sonic Youth is,so that means that they are not going to be playing a long set .

Some of us read music websites. And I believe Quasi is only opening Berkeley, the Authorities are definitely the main opener for Stockton. Tomorrow!

And yeah I thought Pavement were headlining the Bowl show. Either way, it's Sonic fucking Youth, what a 1-2 punch, and a pretty good 1-2-3 punch too.

I think it's mostly just people knowing the Pixies more. It might be a little bit of that "young hipster crowd" thing but I think the main reason is the Pixies are more well known. Had a song in Fight Club, Kurt Cobain loved them, stuff like that, so they stayed relevant. There hasn't been much keeping MBV and Pavement alive to hype up their reunion for the kids.

Well got a stockton ticket, that damn website gave me 3 passwords i couldn't read so i got right side row o seat 24

I'm going with two other people, and I got through at about 10:02 or 10:03 because of all the captcha nonsense. My seats are in Q, which isn't bad considering Z is only a little more than halfway back as far as I can tell.

Out of curiosity I tried ordering just 2 tickets right after that, and I was able to get seats in section G. Moral = 2 is the magic number.

Interesting also how Bob Hope charges for mail or will call and doesn't charge for printing at home, while Ticketmaster is the opposite.
