You made a mistake.
Yeah they were AWESOME. A combo of Broken Social Scene, Akron Family, and Polyphonic Spree.
One of my favorite sets of the entire weekend.

i wasn't sure what to expect from this set. i had only heard "home" and one other song that had lyrics about home too and wondered if they were a one trick pony. but man did i have a blast at their set. it was one of the friendliest crowds of the super packed weekend. so many people were dancing and smiling. the band had a ton of energy and i loved watching them perform. when home finally came on, i couldn't stop jumping & randy and i even square danced. what a great coachella set <3
also, is jade the lead girl singer with the short hair? if so she is one of the most adorable people on the planet. i love her smile. i also agree with the comments that the lead guy seems a bit narcissitic.
jade castrinos and alex ebert are precious little dirty hippies. check out their live acoustic session they did at the WFNX Coachella House.
One of my favorite sets of the weekend. Easily.

I feel bad for the cameraman whose head was cut open by the mic stand when ESMZ came out onto the stage.
Always a sack of shit.
Since I missed it, I'll ask-
Was there a massive festival-wide sing-a-long to "Home"?

Jamiroquai 2014 please.
These guys were a bit crap when I saw them play the KCRW leather fetish event on 10/31 but I was totally converted on Saturday. It's uncommon to see such a good set on that stage in the heat.
Hopefully their set at coachella will really gain them some momentum, every member of our generation should have the privilege to sing along to one of their shows, it's magical! There shows are like a thanksgiving sing along you don't want to let go of (my family never fucking sings!) for one moment we are invited into their family and we all join in...it's truly beautiful! i'm anxious to see how the bonnaroo crowd is going to respond to their set, i'll be there and i can't wait!

Hipsters and hippies aside...can we not just come to the conclusion that the arcade fire and edward sharpe are both to very special bands that can create very special moments among all of us regardless of who we are...the great thing about bands like this is they shouldn't divide us into bullshit stereotypes, they bring us together...
And in a world where technology is distancing people, it's nice to get out under the sun among many other different people and share a moment together, they will forever have all of my respect!

Because sadly that is the world we live in...I came from Dallas to Indio for one thing and one thing only, the music...it was often very spiritual, I felt a connection with many many different types of people and that's what events like these should center around...people coming together...

I never really got the Edward Sharpe/Arcade Fire comparison. I don't think they sound alike.

Me either...the only thing i could say is they both contain really big theatrical sounds and both make happy music...but I wouldn't compare the two...funeral definitely wouldn't fit, but I guess neon funeral is somewhat comparable...I still don't see it though, I would definitely compare Edward Sharpe to the polyphonic spree before anyone else (they could probably work alot better to now that snuggies are mainstream!)

They were awesome. They kind of reminded me of the Charlie Manson Family. All the girls looked all hippied out and everything. I wonder how much acid Jade was on when she and the other girl stage dived and were giggling for minutes afterwards.
Not saying there's never been a good daytime set at the outdoor before, just saying these guys were uncommonly great.
Anyway, the group needs to amend their cult bylaws to mandate better infant ear protection during music festivals![]()
i thought the set was great, but i agree there were a few problems. i was pretty close and could clearly see that alex and jade were arguing, so that took away from the happy vibe a little bit for me. overall, though, i had a blast dancing and singing with everyone around me.
The Arcade Fire comparisons refer mostly to the sense of community and call-and-response tactics both bands project/use.
And who the fuck is saying Edward Sharpe is a hippy? You do realize he used to be the main guy in Ima Robot, right? His music is great, but he's LA all the way, and disingenuous as fuck.
You mean Alex Ebert?
Jeff Goldblum for main stage 2012.
