    Angry Car search = FAIL

So I'm sitting in line for car camping and have been here since noon, over 3 hours and they don't have enough security to search all the rows of cars.

The side that is being searched is taking forever. They're popping hoods, checking spare tires, unpacking bags, unrolling sleeping bags. It's insane considering there are hundreds if not thousands of cars and they're spending 10-20 min per car.

Honestly I doubt I'll even be searched before sunset.

This is bullshit. We paid all this money and they don't have enough security guards?

Maybe they're just being a little over-enthusiastic because this is the first day? I bet when the line double/triples, and their staff hasn't increased, they'll start waving cars through a little faster. I hope.

    Keep us posted.

the overnight companion lot works smoothly, u just have to be able to find it cos theres really no signs to direct u to it. no real search when i went thru that entrance. they just checked any bags and stuff on you. and no body pat down either.

it did seem though that the lot was filling up fast.

What a bunch of bullsh!t, Sasquatch is no way like this and no security related events ever happen, nor do festival goers have to contend with a large money grubbing police presence either. I'm not saying that Coachella doesn't rock, it's just that in some ways Coachella has some serious issues.

ya we didn't get a bad search though, it was actually pretty mild. It just sucked sitting there for that long while we were wanting to set up camp

    A few notes:

    1. Our group got there at 12:30pm on Thursday. The website said that camping opened at noon, but the security people said that they don't open until 1pm.

    2. The car lines were crazy. There were about 20 cars in front of us waiting to be searched. At 1pm, the security crew started moving down the line.

    3. Our group got lucky to have the 2 idiots searching cars (sarcasm). They took at least 20 minutes PER CAR. There was a VW Bus in the front of the line that they were literally tearing apart. It was stupid and unnecessary.

    4. It took them 20 minutes to check my car (I timed it). They had us take EVERYTHING out of the car, they checked under the hood, checked in the spare tire compartment, opened EVERY bag, EVERY pill bottle, and checked all of our IDs. It was STUPID. At the end, they didn't find anything, because we didn't have anything. Fucktards.

Needless to say, that was just the start of the stupidity that was Coachella Camping this year. I have been camping at Coachella for the past 5 years and this was BY FAR the worst experience yet.

The spots were NOT 10 x 30' (they were stacking cars right next to each other and the guy telling us where to park told us that the average car is 9 feet wide...not quite sure what he considered an average car...a Hummer?)

At the end of the day, all of us just had to make it all work and live with the situation, but the people that GV contracted to do camping this year was really bad (I mean, come on...6 total shower trailers for 8000 camping spots? Really?).

I sure do hope that GV reconsiders their camping configuration and setup for next year.

The average parking space in a parking lot is 8 feet wide. The people who work security don't know much.

Wow, that is a bit excessive. I won't be getting in till around 10 tonight. Hopefully they've calmed down by then. I feel bad for everyone having to wait in line that long. I'm all for good security, but you'd think the Pope was making an appearance with those kind of searches.

People who squat on others' campgrounds don't have to sit for hours in line. Have you seen much of this yet?
