"Excuses" you've had to come up with to go to Coachella

I'm starting this thread because of what I had to do this year to attend. Also curious to see what you mates have had to do as well.

In one of my class, we have a test scheduled this monday (4/19). Despite our class being behind schedule, the test isn't being postponed. A couple of weeks ago, I very professionally and courteously approached my professor and informed him of my upcoming absence. I offered to take the test before/after my absence, whichever was more convenient for him, and to do any make up work necessary. He asked where I would be and what for. I told him I'd be in California for a wedding:

"ah ok. Well I just need some kind of documentation.. Tell you what, bring me a copy of the wedding invitation and we can go from there".

So I spent my weekend making a fake wedding invitation. It looks pretty damn legit - had my stepmom help me out by lending me the design she used. Presented the invite to him on Monday, he approved, and asked for a copy (giving that to him tomorrow). The address is the place we're staying - a rented condo. If he asks, the wedding is at the condo. Done.

So what are some things you guys have had to come up with to come?

no excuses this year, but in the past I've used being sick as an excuse. I've also used "flat tire" for why I didn't come in on a Monday after coachella.

Not really an excuse, but "I'm going camping" has been used in the past.
When asked where? My reply was, "Um..... down the street".

i used the flat tire. called around 11 am on Monday. mother fuckers still made me come in.

Last year I said I had a job interview to get out of a midterm. Professor asked for the interviewer to give him a call so I got my then-boss to do it. Boom.

None. I always simply tell my professors I'm going out of town on the first day of the Spring Semesters. If there's a test I offer to take it early, works everytime

This year, it didnt. Instead, I have to take a make up exam later on during the semester.

i have purposefully scheduled school on only tuesday and thursday during the third quarter every year, that way i dont have to come up with any excuses. i request off from work about 8 months ahead of time.

but if i did have to come up with an excuse . . . oh man it would be creative. i've done it a thousand times before . . . i feel like all i do is make up excuses to my teachers. lol

i love the "honey, im going for a walk." excuse.

Funny, I've used the wedding excuse in the past as well. This year, I'm using up my "Personal Necessity" days for Coachella. Pretty sweet deal. Get to go to a festival and get paid while doing it.

I didn't need to come up with an excuse, but I didn't have vacation time accrued yet, because I used it all. So I just booked the trip, and then was like "Hey, I have three weeks of vacation time a year, so I planned all my vacations based on that. Why should it matter if it isn't accrued yet?" It worked. I'm going.

The crazy part is that my wife just won a trip to London to go to the premiere of Iron Man 2 next weekend, so then I had to finesse that. It also worked and now we are going to London the weekend after Coachella.

I've tried an excuse with my chem professor (mind you, 50 years old) and he said "this has nothing to do with Coachella does it?" Touche.

lol, yeah, I meant that the trip was all paid for too. Bad wording on my part. That hotel is in a really nice location. It's pretty close a lot of the museums and its RIGHT next to Heaven which, while being a gay club, host some of the best parties in the city. Primo digs you got there.
