    Default The 2010 Outdoor Theatre

Looking at the schedule, there seems to be a few acts that are a little larger than the normal offering (I am shocked Thom Yorke and MGMT are basically going unopposed; plus a lot of other really strong acts will draw big crowds). With this supposed increased land being put to use, are we going to have a bigger Outdoor Theatre setup?

    + Dead Weather

Agreed. A slightly more elevated stage and / or better LCD screens would be good for the larger crowds. Also moving the bleachers further back.

Yeah, there do seem to be quite a few bands playing that would normally be too big for the outdoor. I want to see the map!

I am willing to put good money down on it...it'll be a different Outdoor Stage set up..they need to accommodate alot more people for those prime time sets. This is another "Coachella Surprise"
Coachella 01' - 13' and still counting..... 13th year!!!! Geez, I'm getting old..

I usually avoid this stage like the plague if I can. I have never seen more than 3 acts a weekend there. This year, I count 12 acts I will probably see there this year. It is crazy.

That stage looks as big as the Coachella stage. I mean, it'd make sense given the set times, but still, huge.

Rumor is the usual main stage is moving to the outdoor spot and either Muse or Gorillaz are bringing their own stage for the main.

Now that seems unlikely. Those stages need to be there for the whole weekend. Why would GV use someone else's stage?

The Sunday headliner will provide the main stage for the entire weekend with their production already set up, not in plain view though. Other bands will still perform on this stage, however, for this band to be able to play coachella with their full production it is necessary for their stage to be set up all weekend, due to the fact that it'd be impossible for them to load their production in during a set change on the old main stage like in the past.

The outdoor theater stage is scraped and the old main stage will take its place with adjusted audio to eliminate bleeding.

And no, this band isn't U2.

It's a thread from just halfway down this page in Misc Babble. The poster describes it as the main stage. He calls the thread "main stage on the way up." I'm inclined to believe him as that gate outside of which it was taken indicates its the traditional main stage location.

So either that's a fancy new main stage that doesn't look fancy yet, or that's just the traditional stage they use every year and this is all rubbish.

Video screens are highly secondary to better sound. I have heard some of the worst audio fuckups at Coachella while at the Outdoor stage, the crowds are huge and there is no projection especially with the Do Lab making so much noise. Improving the sound would be oh so crucial for the obvious mobs that will be there this year.

And PLEASE can the bathrooms at that stage not be such a clusterfuck?! There should be a separate entrance AND exit (obviously), last year people literally tore the fence down it was so screwed up.

With such a lineup you know it is going to be swamped.

Yeah, but that's been there before, well, anything. It's just a hold over from last year. It might possibly be the same as this years, but who knows.
