We're not becoming friends
this has absolutely nothing to do with the previous posts in the thread, but I didn't want to start a second thread.
I read an article in yesterday's SF Chronicle about how absinthe is now legal in the US. I'm now on a mission to find somewhere that sells it. does anyone know of any places that stock it yet? (sf bay area for me, but we can extend the discussion to other cities) I don't know if there is any small print, such as only being able to be served in bars, etc., but I am hoping it will be available in stores.
I do know of one bar that sells it actually, the broken record in the outer mission. but it's $10 a shot, and the outer mission is not convenient. hence I'm looking for bottles instead.
here's a link to the article: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...sn=001&sc=1000
if youre afraid of gettin caught...
put it in Listerine bottles....
=)
i too would enjoy some... and am also local, maybe we can barter?

There has been a traveling Absinthe bar at the DNA lounge on the Goth/Industrial/EBM nights. The guy has quite a selection, at very reasonable prices too. He even has a liquor that is made w/ coco leaves, it tastes much better than Absinthe does and it has a little rush to it as well.
Absinthe is being distilled in Alameda now too.

Ugh. Shitty flavored non-hallucinogenic crap. Someone on this board last year talked about making their own absinthe with effective levels of thujone--if you're still around, PM me. Let's fucking do this.
Actually, they do contain wormwood. America has lifted the ban and eased the restrictions.
I have tried probably 10 different types of real Absinthe, including the variety that has wormwood stems and leaves floating in the bottle (this is for a time release function that gets around Wormwood level restrictions) and the hallucinogenic properties of Absinthe are wildly exaggerated, it is a mildly colorful experience that is on par with the effects of 'baked' goods.

They don't contain enough wormwood (or to be more chemically accurate, thujone) is the problem. No brand of absinthe produced ANYWHERE in the fucking world contains a high enough thujone content to produce a base-level hallucinogenic experience unless you consume an alcohol poisoning times three level amount.

Yes, you can do an extraction of thujone from wormwood... but where's the historical sense of nostalgia? =)
Green food coloring should do the trick and your taste buds will thank you for it. Ugh, Chartreuse and Absinthe are nasty, now Agwa tastes good.
Distilled and produced in Holland, AGWA de Bolivia is an Alco-Jolt made from the Bolivian coca leaf and contains Guarana and ginseng.
Available in standard dosage of 32 grams of coca leaf flavour per litre, or the more potent 40 grams of coca leaf flavour.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet but absinthe is legal in the US and can be found at your local BevMo! store
bev mo has it? hmm.
I found it really quick, at a store on fillmore st here. walking distance from my place! stuff ain't cheap. they had a kubler (swiss) for $60, a lucid (french) for $75, and the st george (the one made in the alameda) for close to $100.
yeah for sure.... Im not sure if it is quality but a friend of mine had a bottle he said he bought at Bevmo which surprised the shit out of me! Last time I bought some I had to sneak it back from Mexico
Nick Cave at The Hollywood Bowl is going to be a bit more interesting now...
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
Not really. You'll just be drunk.
Weird, when did absinthe become legal in the US again?
