TCH, in your title you asked "Would you live" and then in the body you asked something else so I am going to answer according to the title. I have never lived in Coachella but I lived in LA, San Antonio, and El Paso. All of these cities have a climate a lot like CV. I personally didn't like the spring and summer seasons only. It is also hot as hell in the summer. Most of the people I know that live in those climates, live in air conditioned cars and houses and never leave either unless they have to. I like to go outside sometimes and not avoid it mother -nature. The cost of energy is going to go up to all the time and it costs beau-coup already. Water is also going to get more scarce. Water is going to be a very big deal this decade. If this is just short time, it doesn't matter, but if you are thinking in 10 year terms, I don't know if I would make roots in a desert ...

I'm somewhat of a recluse, I like hotter places, and I'm very fond of the Coachella Valley. Plus, it's not too far away from L.A., so I could catch some cool shows, and I definitely could catch Coachella all the time.

I'd only move there if I felt that I had a secure financial situation and a wife. I don't want to search for love and money in Coachella Valley.

I have lived in Palo Alto (CA), San Jose (CA), Birmingham (MI), Evanston (IL), Laramie (WY), Sunnymead (CA), Cheyenne (WY), Portales (NM), and Palm Springs (CA). I have lived in Palm Springs since 1998, and I shall retire here. I enjoyed each place I lived in for those times in my life. Wyoming was particularly beautiful, and I loved camping & fishing & hiking. But now that I am older & gayer, Palm Springs is for me!

we have a few friends that have weekend houses in la quinta, right up against the mountains. there is some great hiking to do there in the cooler months.

lived here my whole life except for a year i spent in riverside...
travelled all over north america (prolly 30 of the continental united states, canada, mexico) but always came home to here...
now my mom is in her mid 70's and i'm the only family member still here so i KNOW i'm not going to leave here or her behind... some of the good things about the coachella valley are: you are 2 hrs away from the beach, las vegas, the mountains, mexico... so you can easily make a day trip or weekend adventure to any of them... AWESOME hiking all around you and some okay skiing in the winter... overrall relatively liberal compared to a LOT of america...

I'll put it like this:
I've never lived in the Palm Springs area. However, if for some miraculous reason I had it on good word that David Bowie was going to play Coachella (or the bill somehow happened to be equally as epic), I would consider moving to Coachella, albeit temporarily, until the week of the festival.

It's like a boat that belongs to a friend. It's great when you have endless access to it, but you don't have to deal with the committment.

My mom grew up in Palm Springs and my grandparents lived there until they died. I spent MANY a weekend out there during every part of the year. As a child, I loved it. The mountains are so much fun to explore, and the desert provides endless opportunities for bug and lizard hunting. Now as a "grown up," I have good friends who live in La Quinta, and it's great to visit but only during certain parts of the year. The winter is the best!

Could I live and work there? I don't think so.

There is not much to do other than Coachella fest in April, nothing interesting about this valley! lol

I've lived here all my life, yeah it fucking sucks in the summer, so the beach is a must. But October-February, it's perfect. Nothing beats the sunsets, mountains, and desert rain. My dream is to live elsewhere and have a house out here for those months when I'm older. (Also, stay out of Cat Shitty, Indio (some parts), Coachella, Desert Hot Springs, I mean those places are ghetto wastelands.)

Born in Indio, but raised in Coachella (so not sure the question doesn't really apply to me, but I needed to add my two cents). Lived there for 27 years. Left 5 years ago, for love (ahhh). I go back several times a year as my parents and a lot of family on my mom's side live in Coachella. It's too hot during the summer, but if you have AC, you learn to live with it. It's not a "ghetto wasteland". Just a little Mexican, which is how I like it. It certainly isn't for everyone.
