Every morning and every evening, the cottontail bunnies come up from the canyon to graze on the lawn:

This little guy is only the size of the palm of my hand:

Here, 1litro has violated the HOA prohibition against "feeding the vermin":

My heart is beating. A hawk just nailed one of the bunnies right by the patio. Poor thing, but hawks gotta live, too. I hear telltale screaming noises, and look out to see the hawk looking mighty pleased with itself on the lawn, before it flies up over the canyon, prize clutched in its talons. Meanwhile, another bunny is huddled up against my sliding glass doors like LET ME IN PLEEEASE.

I am glad it wasn't the little bitty baby.

That barreleye fish is bizarre --- never knew such a thing existed. Is the entire top of its head like one giant cornea/lens?

Considering posting a photo of me laying by refreshing pools of water on a flat rock with various animals coming out of nowhere licking my extended hand in mutual greetings. Nobody would believe it otherwise. But first I’ll have to view the developed negatives to see how I look.

That happened Wednesday. If in LA area, do this hike on a weekday and when the weather is hot. It’s incredible. http://www.modernhiker.com/2008/08/1...ge-to-nowhere/

It was and a perfect hike for Izzy. About 2 miles from the trailhead and Izzy trecked the whole way. There was this really steep stair case down to the base of the falls that was a little sketchy, but it was a perfect hike. Izzy and I were laughing at all the whiny kids (many older than her) who had to get carried.

not sure where to post this so here it shall go:

Animal Planet is airing The Cove starting this weekend. please set your DVRs for this one. it's a fantastic documentary (won the Academy Award) and plays more like a thriller than anything else. there is only one short bloody scene that is imperative to the storyline. other than that, it's not only very watchable, but quite enjoyable (and, of course, there is the awareness component).

    thx for watching it.

(full disclosure...i am loosely affiliated with the producers of this film)

It is! I was really excited to see him, because they are on the endangered species list and it's now estimated that there are only approximately 1000 monk seals remaining.
