Dude these tour dates are a blueprint for bands playing both weekends. When are the two weekends again? Oh yeah, EXACTLY surrounding these dates, so Godspeed has something to do between the weekends. I don't know how they'll get around the soundbleed issue, I'm not the promoter, but GYBE is for sure playing.

    Upcoming Shows:
    Four Tet
    Coachella 4/20-4/22
Death Cab for Cutie/Magik Magik Orchestra
    Radiohead
    some other bands

And that would suck if Coachella attendees (who don't live in the Bay) would get punished and not have a chance to see GYBE. It's like the show is on a Thursday. Plus Big Sur is intimate so it's not like everybody can get tickets. I'd be willing to bet money (or a Spicy Pie) they will be on the fields

    oh GTFO
all i'm saying is it's possible that they could be at Coachella.
8 days in a row is not TOO much. they're musicians
this is what they do. they can do they 8 shows in a row then take a long break if they
    want to.

I've never been in a crowd more silent and still than when they played GAMH earlier this year... you could hear people coughing across the room at some points. I'd love for them to play Coachella and it seems like they're going to but the sound bleed / outdoor venue does seem a bit weird for them, honestly.

If this was all a big middle finger to Coachella... wouldn't the five night residency be in LA?

Agreed. I think that Godspeed are a ubiquitos and well-respected enough band by now to not only play an unopposed set, but to play one after dark, too.

By that I mean, most of the people that go to Coachella at least know who Godspeed You Black Emperor are.

So like, Outdoor Stage while nothing is going on on the mainstage or Gobi (or Do-Lab)?

    11/28: Dixon @ TBA
12/1: Angel Olsen, Kevin Morby @ GAMH
12/6: Dream Police @ Brick and Mortar
    12/12: Ancient Methods @ Mercer
12/13: RRose, Carlos Souffrant @ TBA

it's been pointed out that when Mogwai played in 2006 the only other act going on was Madonna in the sahara. not that Mogwai need to be unopposed, but that's how it turned out. this could be similar. then again I don't think the do-lab existed in 2006. they generate some of the worst noise bleed.

I also remember MBV on the Main and the only other act being Christopher Lawrence in the Sahara in 09 for 40 minutes.

    Anything's possible

Absolutely. I doubt anyone would seriously lament a temporary do-lab shutdown.

Totally forgot about LOTP. I just remember getting out of whatever act I was seeing and finding out I only had 2 options for 40 minutes and I didn't want to see neither.

2009 was a fine vintage, indeed. A nearly perfect lineup, and the last pre-cluster festival.

though... they are the band with least reason to complain about noise bleed.

No, they don't. Keep in mind that the music nerdiness of this board, and a small slice of us at that, does not translate to the wider audience that GV now aims to sell Coachella tickets to.

I'm still unconvinced that they will be there merely based on the Big Sur/GAMH bookings. Shit, for all we know, they booked the GAMH run to record a live album.

Most people that go to Coachella are now just regular people. Not music nerds. But more regular people are nerdy about music than 6 years ago, methinks. But GYBE? Not mainstream.

Although there's Seth Rogen. GYBE in Mojave, Rogen & Friends on Outdoor, Jack Johnson on main stage.

    This. THIS.

If it was at the Henry Miller Library, I'd be there in a heartbeat. But I'm not driving all the way up there to see them play in a fucking bar.

Especially after how pristine the LA shows were last year, it would take a hell of a lot for this not to be the lesser of the shows I'd have seen.

I agree and I think this was evidenced by the tiny Pavement crowd at the main stage two years ago.
