She added the phrase "meany head" to my profile.I hardly think I'm an attention whore.
Different person here with a follow up question. This is my first year and I heard they are doing in and outs. I don't have a camping ticket; would I be missing out much if I just went out to my car for sandwiches and stuff and maybe drink a bit so I'm not always at the beer gardens. I figure I'd only resort to the car maybe twice tops a day. Is that much of a hassle? Do you have any other suggestions? Or is that perfectly okay/normal? Thanks in advance.
I think walking in and out a couple of times during the day seems kind of silly. I appreciate the value of not having to buy food or alcohol, but the some of the best music discoveries are made while eating near a tent and going "Hey, who are those guys? They're kind of awesome."
Coachella is a place beyond conventional geography, a time not measured in hours or minutes, an experience, a state of mind, an attitude, and a holy form of expression. The Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is an annual festival put on by Goldenvoice in Indio, CA. Please don't confuse the two.
The walk from the parking lots to the actual festival grounds can take anywhere from 15 to 30 min. depending on which lot you end up having to park in. If you don't mind spending 8 bucks for a beer the beer garden isn't that bad. In fact, you actually have a decent view of both the main stage and the outdoor stage.
Think of the parking situation kind of like Disneyland's. The parking is not so far away it's outrageous but far enough away that it'd be a pain in the ass to return a couple times throughout the day.
Thanks for the insight, I guess I'll just pony up the bucks for some beer and maybe bring like a water bottle with ya know umm...water in it to help out. The food at the vendors I'm sure I could afford.
You'd also be standing in the search line to get back in each time.
taking a lap top or net book?
smart or not?
Hard to say, but in my experience of European festivals that do it, the lines late afternoon are easy to get thru in a minute or two. No idea if this is the same for Coachella, but it safe to assume the lines to get back in will be less at 4-5pm than when the gates open each day.
Contrary to some comments here...if you time a visit back to your tent there is some positives i.e. cheaper eats and drinks, change of clothes or a little siesta. So if budget and spending the absolute minimum is a factor it is a good move. Obviously you can lose an hour here and there, but it is a nice option to have.
I wouldn't bring more than your breakfasts and maybe a midnight snack when you get back to camp. Wasting time going back and forth and getting searched isn't worth it. Eat your morning meal, buy lunch and dinner or whatever you want inside. It might seem expensive but you won't miss music or money on a bunch of ice each day.
^^
Thanks
seems like after all the hiking and lines and bag checking this is a good idea
there will be a farmer's market in the campsite. 8^)

Make sure u keep the banana's and stuff in a cooler or something cuz they'll spoil.
