Wondering if our plan will work

Im staying with some friends at a hotel, but a friend of mine is camping with a group of friends. Is it possible for us to drive to coachella together on friday, attend the show, and then i drive to the hotel and she walks to the campground to find her friends?

Tim, yup. I assume you mean the camper is riding to the show with you on Friday. You will park in the regular day parking for the fest (only car-camping pass vehicles allowed overnight) After the show the camper just joins her other camping friends and you drive back to the hotel.

You can park and then go and find people but you have to move your car by 3:00 AM or they start towing. One car per camp spot. There is some overnight parking separate from car camping but very limited and it sounds as though it will be gone quickly.

you crazy smart alecs! the potential problem i saw was that my friend will not be arriving with the people she is camping with, and thus may not have any items necessary to identify her as a camper. I guess im just not sure how car camping is going to work. I remember last year they had the camping wristbands, and i was wondering if she needed to arrive with the person she is camping with to get the wristband, or if she needs a wristband at all. I take it she does not. Thanks guys

I don't know if they'll be giving any camping wrist bands, but that's not really the problem you might find. It's your friend getting their stuff into the campground.

If you park in the regular festival parking on Friday and attend the festival, at the end of the night your friend can go from the festival grounds, into the campground with their 3day wristband.

If they have more stuff than they can bring into the festival they're going to have trouble getting it into the campground because in order to go direct into the campground you need either:
- A camping pass
- Arrive with those that have a camping pass
- Arrive in the car with those that have a camping pass

Ok, so then all those people that don't have a camping pass and are complaining shall just show up to the campground entrance and get in with the 3day wristband that they don't have yet because they haven't entered the festival.

Pretty sure campers arriving Thursday will receive their festival wristband (in exchange for their festival ticket) as part of the check-in/search process to enter the camping areas.

Yeah, I imagine the camping entrance will have two lines, one for people who already have wristbands, and one for people who are just arriving and only have tickets. At least on Thursday and Friday, by Saturday everyone should have a wristband (although there will probably be a very, very small number of people arriving on Saturday).

You're probably right I guess. If they do give wristbands at the camping entrance then those that didn't get a camping pass should park their car at the airport and catch a ride or cab. Then at the camp entrance say you're joining other friends whether you are or not.

Then just wander around until you can find someone who will share their spot. Or hang around till late and then set up on a site where someone just parked and went over to tent only.
