lolz. it's safe to say i've spent just as much. are you saying you spent that much on camping gear for just this years coachella?
That's a lot. I got one of those tent packages they were selling for $200. I'll be paying for that 2nd piece of checked luggage (however much that is now). Whatever supplies I round up for extra shade. A friend, the self proclaimed camping guru has the rest I think. What have you bought that's added up to more than $1,000?
I was going to bring this but decided to eat spicy pie instead

I've got one of those, John. Really handy on long trips where I'm feeding lots of people. I camp all the time, so didn't need to buy anything new for Coachella. I've spent thousands of $$ over the years. Hi, my name is Errant and I'm a camping gear addict![]()
Yeah, I'm new to the camping thing. The RV belongs to my mother but she keeps it at my house.
EZ-Up shade tent = $150
Two 10' x 16' tents = $300
One 5x5 tent = $100
Bike rack for RV = $150
5-day ice cooler = $100
Sleeping bags = $60
5 ea @ air mattresses = $ 250
That's $1100 and I still need more stuff for the RV. BTW The tents are for my friends.

With that rig you're set to camp out anywhere for the long haul. I think I spent $80 combined on a sleeping bag, a tent and some sunblock last year and that was all I needed. Some friends in LA pooled together or borrowed a few other necessary amenities, like coolers and a shade tent but not much else beyond the basics. Thinking back, I spent more on alcohol last year which seemed vastly more important at the time.
got a 5x7 tent on ebay for 32 bucks. Came in the mail today. My last one made it 4 years but it was time to need a new one.
Last year was our first year camping@Coachella, so we needed everything...Tent, canopy, chairs, air mattress, pump, small fan, and battery operated lights. Then we needed a wagon to cart all that shit into the campground. I'm guessing we spent around $300-$400. Not bad if you absolutely needed it, but probably impractical to some since we live within walking distance to the festival. But it's true about camping being a huge part of the whole experience so we knew we'd do it again and wouldn't have to spend much this year...Well, that is, until we learned about car camping. Now we own an inverter to power the rope lights and my coffee maker in the AM, and several solar landscape lights so I don't kill myself tripping over another friggin' tent stake getting up to pee at 4 am...or, stumbling back to our tent at 4 am from the campground festivities. LOL Add to that the glow crap and decor that will define our tent from others, and we may be looking at another $300. Guess what? Worth the expense since the weekend value is priceless!
1. Run to a nice patch of grass on the fields and lay face down.
2. Tilt your head ninety degrees with your forehead temple resting on your forearm and watch people through the vision pocket right underneath your armpit hair.
3. Do this for a few hours until you get comfortable.

$100 on 15x15 canopy, $100 on 8 person tent... Maybe $150 on food and beverage = $350

I won't have to buy anything next year. Here's my RV:

ive spent $10 on my tent and its more then adequate for coachella
$5 on blankets
already had the sleeping bags and air beds so all together for this year $15
going to buy a cooler when i get to vegas for $30 but thats a maybe so il stick to my $15 for now
In the 3 years I've been accumulating camping gear, i'm probably around $500. But I only use the gear for Coachella, so I haven't been buying nice things, but this year I'm spending a little more to make things nicer.

i don't know how much i've spent but i do have everything, including an air mattress and battery powered compresser, a roadtrip grill, an axe, 4 sleeping bags, a folding table, a power inverter, a couple of lanterns, and a battery powered fan..
and a blowup doll that looks like david hasselhoff.
planning something special for the campgrounds?
I'd say I'm only in about 200 for two years of camping. 35 on cheap canopy, 50 for a shitload of light blocking fabric, air mattress, and a couple of styrofoam coolers ghetto engineered with ice, duct tape and a camping fan to make a little tent a/c.
Nicer, brighter, and flashier, I presume?
OMG! For a second there, your placement of that last sentence threw me off, and I quickly misread that as "a blowup doll that looks like Brokendoll!" LOL

i still have yet to remove my tent and air mattress from the trunk of my car from last years coachella. tomorrow i will, i swear
Then I will hold you down and spit her percolations all over you until you're as greasy as the day she regrets pushing your big fat ass out her big fat cunt.
i'm on the run from the LAW, so i bailed on all my camping gear and worldy possessions. so i guess you could say i spent 9,500 for the car?
At some point in time a man switches from "I'll have what he's having" to "I'll have what I'm having."
I keep steepandcheap.com open in a window in case anything pops up that i need and it's dangerous. I'll find myself justifying the purchase of snowshoes just because they're 80% off.
Needed it all... 9x9 tent, 10x10 EZUP, Two sleeping bags, Double Twin AirMattress, Rechargeable Quick pump, Propane Camp Stove, Tent Stakes, Duck Tape, Inverter, Tent Fan, Tube of Seam Seal, Self extinguishing ashtray, all from Amazon.com, somewhere near $600. I figure with Beer, Food, and other miscellaneous comfort items, I'll be in for a G, not including tickets or spending money.
I wonder what they will do with all the confiscated axes and stuff this year? Can't very well take it back to your car if you are car camping.
