a total lack of bitching this year from everyone, and Ive heard that ticket sales went much quicker then GV anticipated... but even that in itself could be some crazy marketing strategy used to worry the masses.

The only reason I don't think it will sell out is because of the ecomomy. It has nothing to do with the lineup or Coachella itself. Very few major events sell out these days. So it's just a guess on my part with not a smidgen of inside info. Just for kicks though, I will bet luckyface or sono $20 that it doesn't just for fun. Let me know ...

w/ there only being the sale of 3-day passes this year, this does infact mean they had a much smaller margin for sales. They only had to make roughly 60,000 sales, as apposed to having to try and sell individual tickets. We've never gotten an actual 3day pass or deals for 3day tickets, its always been 3 tix when u buy them, roughly 120,000 sales. In theory its very possible this could sell out at any moment.

Now, I don't feel it'll sellout unless they shift to single-day tix or someone that can move tickets is added to the bill.

However, the way this fest has gone corporate, I definitely don't see them adding anybody else if it, in fact, does sellout. Why would they want to do that at this point?

Of course GV did this for solely for charity for many years and they didn't care about selling tickets because it was all free????!!!!

'Gone corporate'...it has always been a corporate event to make money. I don't understand these statements. If GV didn't make money by assuming this financial risk in staging Coachella, then guess what? You wouldn't have a Coachella.

Yea, I posted that too (and the Roo is looking that way). I just hope the fest doesn't go the way of some Europe fests where they sell out before the lineup isn't even announced.

Really? While I do think the lineup is fairly solid it's probably the least excited I've been in the past 6 years of attending Coachella.

* Boring Headliners.

* Not many exclusive acts (most are playing in my area). With the thousand or so it would cost me to come (airfare, hotel, rental, etc.) I can see most of these bands in my neck of the woods.

* Too many solo acts that will play material I don't want to hear.

* Too many side projects I don't care about.

* Very generic electronic acts highly billed (Tiesto, David Guetta, Kaskade, etc.).

* No single day passes. I can live with 3 day, just like having the option.

* Oodles of pointless camping activites. If I were staying in camping, I would think the following about the activies, DON'T KNOW DON'T CARE.

* Nothing epic to get excited about.

this is my first Coachella and I'm totally excited to be part of it.
I have gone to ACL for the last 8 years since I'm from Austin but have never bothered with Coachella...lesson will be learned soon...

I think the 3-day-pass-only as a whole will benefit all those going.
Yea, whatever about the overall strength of the lineup, this festival is striving to be more of an adventurous experience, for those that can afford it and dem who like to camp
