I had an uncle with schizophrenia who lived with us for a while and i can tell you that there is nothing remotely positive about those hallucinations. He constantly thought there were people spying on him and that he could hear people plotting against him from behind walls and outside windows. He couldn't sleep because there were always noises at night and his paranoia was crippling. The meds unfortunately have debilitating side effects, so he was always on and off them. He disappeared form our house one day (several years later he contacted my mom and told her it was because he felt like a burden on us and he couldn't stand being so useless) and checked himself in and out of hospitals for 10 years before ultimately taking his own life by walking onto a busy freeway. Crazy scary disorder.

Wow, that was an incredibly sad story. I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. When I said "positive", it refers to the symptoms that are "added" like the negative are symptoms that are taken away. Not as in positive=good. That is just how they are classified.
