Car camping site using Google Sketchup

I downloaded all of the models into Google Sketchup and modified them for size to get an idea of how I'll be using my space and to make sure everything fit. I'm sure there will be modifications based on Sunrise, etc. Took an hour or so to get everything into the space and another hour or so editing colors and stuff. I was even able to import it into the Polo fields using Google Earth to see the views and how and when the Sunrise and Sunsets will affect it on the exact days of the festival.

I'd be interested in seeing how others plan on using their space. This might give people some perspective on how much (or little) space they'll have with a car. I used a 4 door Toyota Camry but will be driving a 2 door Toyota Solara (sized to scale for accuracy).

The mismatch between the color and structure of the hair in your avatar and the color and structure of the hair on the figures in your Sketchup is disconcerting, TheClares.

Also weird is that you have four chairs for 2 people.

Also I think the cars have to be oriented outwards.

It depends on how you and the cars around you pull in. It can be done to maximize room. But other than that it looks about right from what I've seen at fests with car camping.

just think about all the people that will be camping with 2-4 (not 6!) campers. after this all adds up, there is going to be plenty of extra room for extra tents (I hope).

I am hoping I'll be able to swing the car around that way, so my inverter can be hooked up to the battery and I can plug in things directly without an extension cord.

I'm sure you can do it however it works best for you as long as it fits in the camping space. It's not like your car will be leaving anytime during the weekend anyway.

having done bonnaroo the last 2 years, this is the perfect picture of how much space you will have... they will have the cars face out and you will camp behind your car.... you have plenty of space.. trust me.. unless you try to make it into some type of 7-10 person party then its gonna be rough.. but 1 big size tent and a car will fit perfectly...

You could simply get 2 pieces of 110 Volt rated electrical wire and splice and extension from your car battery to the inverter.

I went outside with some tape measure and made myself a 10x30 spot to see what it's like IRL. So the car* took up half the spot (the 2 feet on either side of the car aren't really usable except for walking and getting in and out of your car), so the remaining 10x15 feet could fit a couple 7x7 tents rather comfortably, or one huge tent. The best way to take advantage of all the space is to build some kind of shelter. I have to wonder about all these people hoping to cram ten people in one spot.

I did this exact same thing. I'm camping with 3 other people and I'm staying in my GMC Saffari. I'm also bringing a small t.v. table and a 10'x30' canopy with walls. I plan on covering the mini-van as well with the canopy. FUCK the heat. It damn near killed me last year.....ain't gonna happen this year.
