but, really...what a fucked up slot. the guy is selling out decent-sized rooms now and has an award-winning album under his belt. give him some love for fux sake.

having said that, if he ends up playing TI Fest, he'll likely get a daytime slot there too.

I regret missing Caribou at Sasquatch, but there was almost nothing for me to see for at least 3 hours after his set, so I chose to hang out with part of our WH crew at our campsite instead.

I'm also hoping TI picks him up.

    Edit:

I'm still stoked that our farewell to Neumos show was something as awesome as Caribou

I missed Caribou a few weeks ago in Austin ( or was it Dallas?! ) and it was just a bad move on my part. I WAS working on that Sunday but I still should've drove 3 hrs to see them. I've been a big fan of them since I first heard "Hello Hammerheads". I like the direction his albums are taking and have enjoyed Swim immensely the last 2 months.
Saved two girls at DFA. Come at me karma.

I have been playing " Swim " every single day since the day I bought it.
My favorite CD so far this year.

oh wow....you're not kidding Joann. someone has finally trumped Ms. Clarke....that's huge!

i got a cool shirt at the LA show with the album cover on the back and "SWIM" in collegiate lettering on the front. broke it in during my trip to Baja.

so hoping for a return at TI Fest.

This has to go somewhere so I'm putting it here. This cover is fucking spot on. So good.

I've spent a good portion of 2010 looking at Owen Pallett youtubes.

So, Emeralds are opening for them on this tour? Or just the Seattle gig? I'm going to reconsider going to their Phx show if this is true...

I don't know. ThomThom and Jeff said something about it in the Gorillaz thread. They don't list an opener for the Phx show.

Sorry man, it could very well be a one show kind of thing.

I just have a hard time travelling for a festival that has a bunch of bands I've already just seen/have tickets to see later in the year. And the festival might cost $100, but you'll have spent more than five times that much by the end of the weekend.

Late last summer, Canadian psych head-expanders Caribou played the Flaming Lips-curated ATP New York festival, recruiting an all-star band to play alongside them. For the span of that set, Caribou's numbers included Sun Ra Arkestra bandleader Marshall Allen, Four Tet mastermind Kieran Hebden, Koushik, Born Ruffians' Luke Lalonde, five horn players, and four drummers-- a total of 15 people. And now those of us who weren't at ATP will get to hear how that set sounded, as it's now become a double live album, as the band announces on its website.

The limited edition double-vinyl set, credited to "Caribou Vibration Ensemble Featuring Marshall Allen", comes with a DVD of the show and the ridiculously great cover art you see above. It'll only be available at Caribou shows, not at record stores.

    Live at ATP New York:

    LP1:

A1 Every Time She Turns Round It's Her Birthday
    A2 Hendrix With Ko
    B1 Sandy
    B2 Skunks

    LP2:

    A1 Barnowl
    A2 Melody Day
    B1 Brahminy Kite
    B2 A Final Warning

I'm ecstatic to see the DVD of this. I had no idea Four Tet was involved in the ensemble in any way.

And yeah, sound returned to non-shitty after the first 3.5-4 songs
