Whenever I go to LA I have to hit The Whaler in Venice Beach. They have these bacon wrapped shrimp that are damn near orgasmic. In fact my girlfriends and I renamed them orgasmic shrimp. It is right on the beach, cute waitresses, good beer and a nice patio. And I don't think it is really that far from LAX if I remember my driving correctly. Isn't LAX on Sepulvida (sp?) somewhere between Redondo and Venice Beach?

The shrimp are called Whaler Shrimp, they are served with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegis. So yummy. Allyjoy and I went back last time I was in LA and she agreed... Orgasmic.

If you're going to be in Los Angeles, get Mexican food. It's pretty much the only fucking kind of food you're possibly going to pursue that's done significantly better in Southern California than anywhere else. Personally I like a joint called El Compadre's in Hollywood off Sunset. Other recommendations are bound to vary. But making your one meal in LA something else is just dumb.
