A good song should make you wanna tap your feet and get with your girl. A great song should destroy cops and set fire to the suburbs. I’m only interested in writing great songs. - Tom Morello
you could not be more wrong:
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Lucinda Williams "West"
Of Montreal, "Hissing Fauna, Are You My Destroyer?"
I'd have to go with PB&J - Writer's Block. I guess you can consider that a 2007 release, since it was released this year over here....
Really looking forward to their set on Saturday....
Noisettes "What's the Time Mr Wolf"
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
or
The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
Are we talking released or soon-to-be?
The Hours - Narcissus Road
Leak: The Cinematics - Strange Education
Toss up between The Shins and Bloc Party for me.
A teenage dream, so hard to beat...
Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer?
and
Wincing the Night Away
Chris Garneau - Music for tourists
or
Panda Bear - Person Pitch
Red Hot Chili Peppers Stadium Arcadium
i die with you
Prospectively, Bjork's album. I think it will be the best thing that has happened since.. Medulla.
I'm a hardcore Arcade Fire fan. I got Neon Bible and was sure it was going to be the best this year....
That was before I heard Hissing Fauna, Are you the Destroyer?
That is better
im just gonna say Neon Bible...and the new Beastie Boys cd that isnt named or has a release date yet...hehe.
Fergilicious.
At some point in time a man switches from "I'll have what he's having" to "I'll have what I'm having."
Nice new beastie boys coming? Haven't heard about that...
Arcade fire - neon bible
ya, the new bboys cd is rumored to be out in the summer, and that they will be debuting the new material which will be mostly instrumental, and like a soundtrack to a fictional movie at their only non festival performance in Paris in June... Ill be flying to Paris to attend this gig...
There's been (or, in quite a few cases, will be) some really good releases this year but I'd say my favourite so far is Stars Of The Lid - ...And Their Refinement Of The Decline. Absolutely stunning ambient/drone album. The new Pelican and Smoke Or Fire albums stand out to me as being really good too.
Most possibly...
Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
Fu Manchu - We Must Obey
Nine Inch Nails - Year Zero
Queens of the Stone Age - Era Vulgaris
Rush - Snakes and Arrows
Smashing Pumpkins - Zeitgeist
Trouble - Simple Mind Condition
Still-untitled new releases from AC/DC, Aerosmith, ALL/Descendents, Anthrax, Bad Religion, The Cure, Exodus, Foo Fighters, Judas Priest, Metallica, Monster Magnet, Nickelback, The Offspring, Opeth, The Pixies, Primus, Prong, Rancid, Santana and Testament.
I know all those albums are still not out yet, but those bands kick so much ass!
Sound of Silver and The Dave Wang Box Set
Sound of Silver and Friend Opportunity are the only knockouts so far for me.
I'm waiting until Neon Bible's at the store to listen, just to mix things up a bit.
Wincing The Night Away and Weekend In The City have been major, major letdowns, as could be We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank... but I have hope I'll get into that one in a few more listens.
Patty Griffin - Children Running Through
