yep, its pretty cool. the whole wall behind the dj is made of lights, so they have some cool lighting effects during the show. the room itself where the djs play though is pretty small, and when big djs come through it gets super packed, and a little too tight for my liking. also there is a big bottleneck trying to get into said room when it gets too crowded, but if you go in there early enough, it wont be a problem. but if you want to go to the bar and back it can really suck.

plus its downtown sd, so there is usually a small douchebag factor, but all in all it's still a fun place to see a good dj.

Last time I was at Brick by Brick was around 2001/02 for a Tech Itch show. I wonder how it's changed since.

They did a remodel recently... it's not my favorite place but it's not bad either but yeah no curfew! I'm not sure how they pulled it off but that also applies to the Bassface/Pure Filth event there tonight as well.

Also, I don't have tickets for the MGMT show next week, but I am contemplating just standing around near the theater to at least hear some of the show, out of curiosity. Have any of you ever tried this?

Ive done that before. It's not too bad if you dont mind looking at the red iron gate they have there. Rumor is you can somehow get up to the roof of the building behind OAT but I dont know how accurate that rumor is.

Hmm.. seeing as that's a university building, I may be able to investigate this rumor... particularly as I work for the Public Safety Dept. I'll keep you posted.
